DP was one of the great ones to wear the Crimson and White. He gave us lots of happy memories.
I remember when we played the viles at Legion Field, we had the ball on the goal line, DP at QB and everybody in the nation knew who was going to run the ball and he did. The viles stacked the line but still couldn't keep the Deuce out of the endzone for a TD. I believed that tied the game and if I remember correctly the game ended in a tie.
Hope his son gets his life straightened out so he can follow in his dads footsteps at Bama.

The Deuce is absolutely the best and most talented offensive football player , friend or foe , to ever set foot on campus . Period !
I'm sure some would put Harry Gilmer in that category or Kenny Stabler. DP was a great one, but we have had others that were legends in their own time over the years.:BigA:

If you've seen his son Davin Palmer play, there is know question where he gets it from! Stats for Davin this year so far:

Before the games of 10/28/06:

176 Attempts
1630 yards
9.2 yards per carry
25 TD's

Last friday night vs Briarwood:
Davin Palmer, Chelsea: Rushed for 144 yards including a game-tying 86-yard touchdown, caught five passes for 45 yards, made two interceptions on defense and had five tackles and two fumble recoveries as the Hornets beat third-ranked Briarwood 14-7 to win the 5A, Region 5 title.

Pretty good stuff if you ask me!

For those that might , I would ask two questions . #1 - What 4 positions did Snake play ? Couldn't and shouldn't get a mention . I bet Snake would agree on that . #2 - Gilmer - Did anybody here actually see him play ? Maybe 3 or 4 TF members at the most would be my guess . That was a lllooooooonnnnggg time ago .

That doesn't make sense. Just because you didn't see someone play doesn't mean you can discount their abilities. We've had many players in CRIMSON that you throw in the "best ever" category. Don Hutson probably has a stronger case than anyone. All he did was to revolutionize the passing game in the NFL.

Who was Don Hutson ? JOKING !!! He was great in his day . Same with Gilmer .

When we were in the NFL , weren't all of those games played off campus ? B'ham ? Mobile ? Were we in the AFC or NFC ? I'm having trouble remembering .

If hardly anyone is still around that actually saw a guy play then I doubt they could garner very many votes . Those guys were great in their day but unfortunately , they aren't overly relevant in recent times .

JOMO . DP was second to none .
