After the way this team and fan base were embarrassed in the Sugar Bowl, I'm not surprised one bit. There is NO WAY a prepared Alabama team with this level of talent should have lost that game.

I'm one who doesn't believe we were better than our record indicates. Actually, I believe we were somewhat worse than what our record indicated. We were just fortunate enough to play some very bad offenses and teams along the way.
I don't think we were better or worse than our record indicates. I just think we were much, much worse than we were capable of being. And I think Coach Saban recognized that some changes were needed in order to squeeze more out of our potential.

I agree. I think the best way to describe it without having to go into a lengthy list of underlying issues is "It was just time to hit reset."

I listened to Bill Belichick be interviewed by Bill Cowher this weekend and BB said the hardest thing is to find different ways to keep delivering the same message. That if you don't the message goes stale and the players don't listen. I think this is a challenge at any level of sports.
And in any forum where leadership is required, not just sports. I've seen it happen in a military context. Great and correct message but nonetheless stale and ineffective due to repetition. Process, yeah, blah blah blah.

Or maybe there arejust significant gaps in talent that couldnt be masked against solid competition. See the OL for ex. You can mask one guy but three is a lot in any league.

I thought Brown was a good guy when I meet him last year at the coaches clinic, but I wasn't overly impressed with him as a coach. Just didn't seem like a Saban guy to me.

The Kentucky game, too - turnovers were just awful.
This was it for me. A better team would have given us fits that night. I didn't expect us to be fired up and playing our A game but I didn't expect the sloppiness and mistakes that are so uncharacteristic of even a flat CNS team.

Long strange trip for Brown. 17 different coaching jobs in a 33 year career. I'm not sure how that happens.

Kind of what I thought when he was hired... and no SEC experience either.

Isn't the TE coach also the special teams coordinator?

If Brown leaves, does Smart go back to coaching the secondary and Steele to inside LBs?

That seems to be what most people are speculating. That almost puts the defense back to the 2008 lineup. Coach did say we needed a re-boot, but I didn't know he meant it literally. -lol
Sometimes the guy is more literal with his statements. I'm kinda surprised that this was one of those times.

@AlexS_ESPN Sources tell ESPN that Bama DB coach Greg Brown will step down, clearing the way for Kevin Steele to coach LBs
