What surprises me is how long Hubbard is. From the film, he seems to use his length pretty well to latch on to runners. Usually you hear length for basketball players, but it helps for defensive ends, as well. Looks like he needs to get stronger though.

He kind of reminds me of a couple of guys. Michael Johnson went to my high school and ended up playing defensive end at Georgia Tech. He literally came out of nowhere as a 6' 7" kid who played basketball and was way too light for Division 1. But he pretty quickly put on weight and became an All-American and now plays NFL ball. He went to my high school in central Alabama and I had no clue who he was. Total late bloomer.

Julius Peppers also comes to mind, although I believe he had good size when he showed up at North Carolina. He always was able to use his length and basketball ability to make incredible plays from defensive end. I just remember him dominating Auburn in their 2000 bowl game.

As one poster stated, the kid seems to play WAY too high, but that is something that can be corrected.
You're definitely right there. On the other hand, about 99.9999% of 6'7 kids play way too high at this level anyway, especially those who have been playing football for all of six months.

It is clearly something that would have to be fixed, but I wouldn't see it as a fatal flaw now. I think if you go after Hubbard, you do so with the understanding that while he is a great athlete with a great physical build, he is also about as raw as they come and you are going to have to put a lot of work into him.

This kid's stock has been crazy. I'm hearing a lot about Clemson and Hubbard, I'll do some more research. He'll also be attending the USC/UF game this weekend on a unofficial visit.

Reminds me a little of Mark Anderson - which is a good - with more motor . While I would not be one to complain , far from it , if Hubbard were to sign with the Tide , we are talking about a project and I hope none of you actually believe his reported 40 time . Might get there one day but he's clearly not 6'7" either .

I am sure your are right LCN...but I am going to stick to my guns. Maybe I am making too big of a deal about but just thinking logically...we extended an offer to him just a week or so ago(hence Saban offered him ultimately). So if Saban wants him there must be something to this guy, I agree he will be a project but it seems he is a project that Saban wouldn't mind having to cultivate. Hubbard has come out of nowhere but he is the hottest, fastest rising recruit on most boards and his offers list gets longer by the week, they can't all be wrong. I am a tad bit apprehensive about it all but it is what it is I guess. I wish him all the luck in the world wherever he ends up. He has apparently played his heart out and taken his future by the horns so to speak and will definitely better himself by his efforts. Congrats Adrian and I am truly glad for you, stay healthy young man your dreams are firmly in your grasp.

He took an official visit to South Carolina this past weekend as the Gamecocks hosted Florida. Hubbard is leaning to the out-of-state schools, but Georgia is making a late push as well.

Hubbard reports Alabama, Florida State and South Carolina as the only schools to definitely receive official visits out of the five allowed by the NCAA. He has not decided on the other two schools.

I believe he's ours unless we somehow can't find a way to squeeze him in (which I don't see happening).

The guy looks to be really impressive. Is he a project-type guy that could be really nice in 2-3 years? If he is truly 6'7", then 227lbs seems a bit light.

He's definitely "raw", if that's what you mean. He'll probably need a year or two in the S&C program before he's ready to significantly contribute, but with his combo of size and athleticism his potential is off the charts IMHO.

I thought that could be the case. He seems to have unreal upside. I love Coach Saban's evaluation of talent, but could this possibly be another Deion Belue i.e Coach seeing something that the recruiting services don't?

As mentioned somewhere in this thread, he might be a good Jack candidate, and wouldn't have to gain that much weight.

Alfy Hill could play anywhere in the LB corp.
