Re: Is Carl Lawson a Barn lock?

How on earth did UGA let a Top 5 player in their backyard slip away from them and to the barn too????

I can see UGA losing players to Bama and UF, but Lawson and Trey Johnson both to auburn is crazy. :conf3:

I realize Richt is usually late to he dance, but this is just plain sloppy on UGA staff.

The only thing that makes sense for Lawson and TJ to commit to au is early playing time. period.
That is the reason *U is such a "young" team every year........trying to fulfill the recruiting promises of early PT/starting every year. Guys like this could likely get EPT anywhere but coming in without the notion of having to earn it is dangerous.

Sooner or later this is going to bite the boogs in the butt and everyone (universities, coaching staffs, recruiters, analysts, opposing teams, rivals) in the sec, country (other conferences) and even these young high school recruits themselves are going to start seeing thru these lies questioning these tactics, empty promises and excuses and run away from the boogs. Just like the pa systems and other gimmicks that the ncaa warned them about these too will soon be exposed and used against them. It wont be soon enough either.
Seriously how long is this we're young crap and youll get early playing time garbage going to be taken at face value? It will end sooner or later.

Re: Is Carl Lawson a Barn lock?

True. But that is a completely different animal. We know where Lawson is on 247's rankings, does anyone here know where he is on Coach Saban's? For all you know he agrees with 247. The recruiting services tend to play to their fanbases, Coach Saban could care less whether anyone agrees with his evaluations.
Absolutely agree!

However, there are a lot of coaches that follow who he recruits and then goes after them. (AU is one of them.)

Re: Is Carl Lawson a Barn lock?

Even though Lawson is commited I doubt it sticks. He appears to want to play in a 3-4. Not sure why UA did not make or still making a strong push for him. He has a new private trainer in Atlanta. A former UT player and alum. Lawson really likes Sal, and maybe him leaving UA hurt our chances. Not sure if Sal was his recruiter. He also has taken 2 visits over the last 2 months to UF. My guess he will decommit from AU.

Has he visited UA or camped here?

Re: Is Carl Lawson a Barn lock?

Good to hear that we are going after him!

I've got to admit that part of me just would like to see him "flip" just to see how the Barners would implode over it.

They are pretty full of themselves right now about their defensive recruiting...even believing they'll flip Foster.

Re: Is Carl Lawson a Barn lock?

Im hearing that our staff is now making pursuing Lawson a priority.
That is good to hear and hope you are right. I saw some camp video of him and he was unblockable (no pads of course). Would love to flip him since he is a great talent and Barners would start jumping off buildings.

Re: Is Carl Lawson a Barn lock?

That would be huge. I think we were after him but wanted to see him perform at a camp. You know how CNS does. Man he would be a perfect Jack for us!

Couldn't read most of it but who are the schools that he's looking to visit? Obviously Tenn is one but is he considering UA?

Re: Is Carl Lawson a Barn lock?

Auburn commitment now looking at Tennessee? Pretty clear to me that his top priority is the early playing time.

One way or the other, I wouldn't expect him to end up at Alabama. Vols might be the destination, but we'll see. I bet Sal would love a kid like that at Jack linebacker.

Exactly. Why do you think guys like Lawson, Foster, and Trey Johnson commited to the barn ?? M. Adams if he commits to au can be thrown in the same boat too. the way they have looked in the last 2-3 years on defense, its becomes very clear to any prospect that early playing time is readily obtainable down on the plains.

Except they have 4 and 5 star signees standing on the sidelines while making these promises. Several of them are blowing up twitter whining about it. Its no coincidence that a lot of these players chose to go where they were guaranteed a starting spot, rather than given the chance to earn one are not seeing the field.

Bingo. Said it before and I'll say it again, you not only need to sign the right kids, you need to sign them for the right reasons, and "I want to play at School X 'cause I'll start day one" is rarely the right reason.

This is all true ,but from what I have been hearing Sal may not be around after the season if Dooley keeps his job or not. Also, the only 5star (for now) that ends up at Auburn is Foster because of other things that him and his family have done.
