I don't really believe there is any such thing as a trick play. You are either using all the tools available under the rules or you aren't. I like it when people dig deep into the rulebook, but I am a lawyer, so I have no honor...
I'm not a lawyer - probably the farthest thing from it - but I agree.

Wow I'm a sophomore at Bama right now but just a few years ago in high school I played football, this team is in our district so we played them and non of the teams we played them did they use a trick play. This is pretty funny to me.

The funny thing about that trick play was that it still required a very good pass and route running to succeed. I highly doubt anyone would call a trick play that dials in 1 on 1 coverage against good DB's.

I'm not suggesting they're cheating, just saying I don't care for them. Seems like a move of desperation.

Is it really a trick play? The offense was not in traditional stances, etc. but they were lined up correctly and the lineman were imitating statues and none of the backs were moving, something was up. The ball was snapped cleanly and the DB over the target receiver was not fooled. One of the first things I remember being taught my first year of tackle football, at age 9, is when the ball is snapped you go!

And most teams have been pulling out all the stops against Trinity and still losing. Shiloh Christian, Arkansas 4A Champ with future Auburn QB Kiehl Frazier, played them in September and had to resort to trickery to get most of their 26 points while Trinity pretty much just pounded away to get their 80.

They didn't pound Allen, did they! My wife's family has ties to "Useless" Trinity, and they poor-mouthed me, all week, before the playoff game.

But, they were right about one thing: they have trouble defending against the pass.

The DB may not have been fooled, but that's a much easier pass to make with no pass rush. The QB did a double hop while winding up for the throw.

No they didn't, Allen almost had them too. Allen and Trinity is turning out to be an annual event in the 5A playoffs and it's always a great game. Those Samoans and Tongans that Trinity has cannot run fast but they sure can stuff the run!
