As loony as the GOP is, it’s still hard to imagine MTG winning a statewide race in any state other than maybe Florida.
I think even that would be a tough nut to crack.

But she could undoubtedly win the nomination in the Arizona GOP just so long as she could get Kari Lake to go on a year-long trip around the world.

Given Georgia rejected one of the most famous native-born sons for a Senate seat because they viewed him as an out and out kook, I'm minimally hopeful they'll reject the MTG level of idiocy.

Btw - with all of the pronouncements of the death of the Democratic Party and that always insane hyperbole - their route to capturing the Senate in 2026 just got a tiny bit easier with Kemp's opting out. I'm not saying they'll win it, but Kemp was probably the closest thing the GOP had to "he'll win the seat for sure."

Amusingly, Georgia has two Democratic senators LARGELY because of an orange-headed oaf's inability to admit he's a loser. (He sure does whine a lot for a "tough" guy).

In regards to loony, have you taken a look at the dim party lately?
The Democratic Party certainly has its share of nuts, but most of them (aside from some anti-Jew bigots) aren’t elected to gubernatorial or national office. That’s absolutely not true for Republicans these days.

The big problem with mainstream Democrats is that they seem scared to counter the left-wing extremists that often seem to define the party (at least to the general public).

Of course, your definition of loony might differ from mine. I guess it’s possible that we could consider each other to be loony. We can explore that further if you’d like.

MTG could probably win the primary, especially if Democrats will be able to vote in it. But she’d have a tough time in the general election.

Her running for the Senate would be addition by subtraction for the GOP. A normal person wins her seat and a rather inoffensive senator holds the seat for another six years (haven’t heard his name since he was elected) and can try again in 2032 with President Vance possibly at the top of the ticket.

I agree Trump is to blame for the Georgia senators. No way the Democrats win both if Trump goes quietly into the good night.

Trump taught them well.

Accuse them of what you actually did.

He learned that from Roy Cohn.

Seriously, there's some folks there who could use a good public beating for flat out lying. And they don't seem to understand their own compromise with the monster that will eat them last.

Sen. Mike Lee’s obscenity bill is a free speech nightmare straight out of Project 2025’s playbook
The Utah Republican introduced the Senate version of the “Interstate Obscenity Definition Act” (IODA) — a recycled attempt to ban online pornography nationwide.

A new bill in Congress threatens to dictate what Americans can read, watch and say online. On May 8, Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah and Rep. Mary Miller, R-Ill., introduced the “Interstate Obscenity Definition Act” (IODA) — a recycled attempt to ban online pornography nationwide.

While concerns about pornography, including moral and religious ones, are part of any healthy public debate, this bill does something far more dangerous: It empowers the federal government to police speech based on subjective values. When lawmakers try to enforce the beliefs of some Americans at the expense of others’ rights, they cross a constitutional line — and put the First Amendment at risk.
