The government has absolutely no business paying for in-vitro, for anyone. This is an extremely expensive procedure and has no bearing on your health. You are not going to die if you don't have children. No private health plan pays for this and neither should the government. If you can afford it privately then fine, otherwise you can adopt like most people have since the beginning of time.

Well, let's see:

You CAN write off the governor races in VA and NJ.
You CAN write off the NYC mayor's race given a mainstream Romney Republican of 2012 wouldn't have a prayer of carrying that city, either.

But the evidence is also quickly accumulating that a party that has spent the last decade basically acting like a toddler shaking a .41 magnum and suffering from Tourette's, ADHD, and withdrawal from mommy's prenatal drug addiction is in trouble.

They lost the mayor's race for Miami for the first time since Bill Clinton was a freshman President.
They also flipped ANOTHER Georgia House seat.

And they're winning seats PRECISELY because Republicans - stop me if you've heard this one - LISTENED to Donald Trump and assumed a gerrymandered map would save them. In so doing, they've put SAFE SEATS at higher risk because, well, you'd have to ask the brain dead imbeciles that listen to this guy.

Why would anyone - I mean ANYONE - listen to Donald Trump about ANYTHING at this point???

===================

Incidentally, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but does it even sound normal to you that Trump isn't boasting constantly about his surviving that "alleged" assassination attempt on him last year? This is a guy who brags about passing a five question cognitive test that my uncle we won't leave alone in a room with a Cuisinart could pass.

But he doesn't boast about his surviving a shot to the head?

Johnson: We're working on a package of legislation that will reduce premiums for all Americans, not just 7% of them. And and I've been talking to every one of these colleagues in the tough districts about that. So stay tuned. There's more to come.

Right. How many years has the GOP had to present a real alternative to the ACA? More lying by the lying leader of the party that lies.

Still waiting to see solid medical research demonstrating the harms they claim for vaccines. It will need to be substantial given the reams of evidence for them. Generated by multiple medical science teams across the world. Not just the CDC...

Oh, this reminds me, I've told this here a few times:

About 25 years ago, I working the drawing room and this woman came in and showed me her requisition, which was for a stool culture and ova/parasites kit. I gave it to her, no big deal. Happens all the time. A few minutes later, a second woman with her child came in, same thing. Meh, okay, whatever.

Then the third one came in. Same request. I asked the mother, "Is there a problem?" (I might find trouble with HIPAA nowadays but it was more lax then). She said, "Yeah, one of the girls got an E COLI infection, and the base nursery is sending all of the kids over to be tested." Her next words were, "There's 42 of us who may have been exposed." I knew right then what had happened so I raced to my boss and filled him in. He put a stop to it for all of them.

What had happened was a nursery worker heard some young girl had a Urinary Tract infection, of which the most common bacterial cause is E COLI. This is the FAMILY of bacteria, NOT the TOXIN that is present in E COLI that kills kids who eat undercooked meat. The nursery worker heard E COLI - and freaked out. Allow me to give another example.

Most of you no doubt have heard of the illness TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME, a potentially fatal infection most often caused by using super absorbent tampons longer than you should. Two main bacteria, STAPH AUREUS (e.g. staph infection) and STREP PYOGENES (the same bacteria that causes Strep Throat), are most often the culprits. But you have Stap aureus as normal flora on your skin. What makes you sick isn't the bacteria, it is the TOXIN activated within the bacteria. Same with E COLI. It is the activation of the 0157 TOXIN that causes the reaction/outcomes, not the fact you "have E COLI." Every one of you has E COLI in what you leave in the toilet out of your intestine (and in the intestine for that matter). What you DON'T have is the TOXIN.

But hey - who am I to argue with Facebook Fiz-sicians?

@SpeakerJohnson confirms there will not be a vote on extending ACA subsidies, saying many Republicans "did want to vote on this Obamacare COVID-era subsidy the Democrats created. We looked for a way to try to allow for that pressure release valve, and it just was not to be. We worked on it all the way through the weekend, in fact. And in the end, there was not - an agreement wasn't made. Now, everybody was at the table in good faith, and I certainly appreciate the views and the opinions of every member."

You certainly don't want it in your blood, and I did back in '23. I got after bilateral femoral artery surgery. It got discovered in a month, when the surgery all opened back up. A green ED doc put me on five antibiotics. Finally, the hospital came to its senses and called in a nephrologist, who took me off three. She had knocked my eGFR down to 22 and my creatinine up to six. IOW, acute kidney injury. Two weeks later, I went to see her, being driven by my wife. She looked at my recent bloodwork and said "Oh good! Your kidneys are back. Let's double your dose." As soon as the door closed behind us, I said that that was enough. We were through. I still had to have a port and my wife give me IV antibiotics for three months...

Definitely don't want Staph aureus in the blood (or most other things since it's supposed to be "pure"). The tendency of doctors to go the "easy" route and hit folks with antibiotics years ago has, of course, led to such developments as Methicillin Resistant Staph (MRSA) and Vancomycin resistant Enterococcus (VRE), two lethal bacteria if not caught in time.

Matt Gaetz, former Trump AG pick, had sex with underage girl while in Congress, House Ethics report says

The House Ethics Committee on Monday revealed it found “substantial evidence” that former Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz had sex with a 17-year-old girl in 2017 and that he “regularly” paid women for sex, all while he was in Congress.

The panel, in a final report on its yearslong investigation into Gaetz, also found that he used illegal drugs, including cocaine and ecstasy, on multiple occasions between 2017 and 2019.
Gaetz also accepted gifts, including a 2018 trip to the Bahamas, “in excess of permissible amounts,” the bipartisan committee concluded.

“Representative Gaetz has acted in a manner that reflects discreditably upon the House,” the 42-page report said.

The committee said it found “substantial evidence that Representative Gaetz violated House Rules, state and federal laws, and other standards of conduct prohibiting prostitution, statutory rape, illicit drug use, acceptance of impermissible gifts, the provision of special favors and privileges, and obstruction of Congress.”

Let's be honest that we HAD to know this.

The sleaze ball politicians almost to a person will defend or at least not condemn virtually any act until they're backed into a corner. And yet Gaetz wiped out a House Speaker to delay the inquiry and then had enough Senators IN HIS OWN PARTY against his nomination as AG that there HAD to be something there.
