If Dee is as good as everyone was saying in the preseason - that he was going to get significant playing time this season - why would Saban balk at burning the red shirt? If he can get into the rotation here, he isn't going to need that 5th year of eligibility to make it into the first round of the draft. Play him if he's healed up!

It's not in the best interest of the player nor the head coach. To see Hart on the 9th Trent, Lacey and Fowler would have to be out.

LOL So far we have the kicker who isn't enrolled yet, Dee Hart, and Duron Carter questions.. I'm betting who we started with is who we play with barring those with injuries that won't be able to play that's only one atm I believe.

Well the kicker is still in high school, and Hart from what I've read will play next season barring anything unusual and Duron I just don't know and don't understand his situation. However, my understanding on him is he will be eligable too next season.

Glad I'm not the only one thinking this.

Why even risk anything with Dee is what I'm wondering? Let the boys knee heel 100% before we push the envelope. I think Dee is legit, but why in the world would anyone want him to play his first game in the BCS Title Game vs. one of the best defenses around. Not many Freshmen can go against top ranked SEC defenses in their first game and do well. I'm not even going to touch on the turnover subject.

So to those asking, why should we RISK our title hopes over a Freshman getting his first reps at RB during a game situation all year?

I have not seen anyone say play Hart injured. but if he is 100% why not and I bet Saban would if he thought he could help our team. Just like with Carter. Carter has practiced all year with the team and the 1st D DBs have talked about how good he is. Hart is arleady practicing and I thought I heard he was already in contact drills. Also from reports from camp before the injury he was expected to get alot of reps as a true freshman.

If Dee Hart is as good as advertised, you may as well burn his shirt. Since it's rare for a great RB to stay four years, may as well use him now in some capacity.

There is a HUGE difference in Hart and Carter. Carter has practiced, Hart has NOT. Has nothing to do with "expected reps". Practicing and going all out are two different animals as well. So what if Saban throws him to the wolves on the 9th, blows his knee again, and fumbles away the game winning TD for LSU? What will you do then? Say Hart should be burned at the stake?

I was one of the biggest Hart fans all year until he blew his knee. I'm sorry, but the risk far outweighs the reward in this case.

Dee's asset is ability to cut. Saban would be roundly criticized and it would haunt him if Dee got hurt in this game. I just think Dee needs that time to safely make all the cuts he has to make with full confidence that his knee will hold up.

Yep like Earle has mentioned on here before and others have agreed, the mental part is a huge factor as well. Yes Dee is supposed to be ahead of schedule, but where is his head? There are just way too many questions for me to even risk it.
