DeVonta Smith (and Waddle!) apparently stated he preferred Mac over Tua at Senior Bowl

Getting the ball from Mac was way more predictable than getting it from Tua. Mac made the read and let it fly. Tua was more likely to end up 'creating' as he waited for the big play to develop. Sometimes 'creating' is necessary but I think Tua sometimes passed on the low hanging fruit that Mac would usually just take. Receivers didn't have to run around as much trying to get open with Mac.

One things receivers don't like: Running around a lot to get open and then not getting the ball.
These are some of the thoughts I had. Mac was by far the more predictable...

Arm strength is not determined by the long ball...any good qb can put air under a ball and throw it 50 yards plus. Arm strength is relative to throwing a 10-20 yard out on the opposite side of the field...the pass has to be on a rope. MJ can do both...he really surprised me. His touch is outstanding...He drops the ball right where it needs to be...or guns it to the same place.
The most striking example of this was the TD he threw to DS in one of the last two games, when he hung it about 2' above the pylon on a rope. TBF, all these "writers" with all the stuff about arm strength are searching for material and copying. After Senior Bowl week, I noticed all the NFL stuff about arm strength disappeared, to be replaced with worries about his mobility - not Mahomes'. This happens every year, when the NFL folk start trying to talk down the value of the people they hope to be able to sneak in on...

I`d be curious to know in general, did the WRs think MAC or Tua threw a more " catchable " ball. Just to my totally untrained eye, it just looked to me like Mac`s throws were easier to catch.

I don't think any of us know for certain Chase of LSWho is going 3rd. Tua's preference will be considered and Devonta or Jaylen could take that slot especially with Chase opting out this past season. It would be cool to see either go to Miami along with Najee at #18. I would become a lot more of a Dolphins fan but they will never overtake the Packers as my true #1 NFL team.
Been a Pack fan since the 60`s, but living and working in the NO area for a number of years and marrying a Louisiana girl, have to pull for the Saints. Saw a projection of Mac to the Saints. That would just be too cool, at least for me!

You've nailed it...for most coaches arm strength is relative to their ability to put the ball where it needs to be in a given situation...I've seen gunners who could not start for a middle school JV team...

I became a big fan as a kid in the 60's also when Bart Starr and Vince Lombardi were winning championships on a regular basis. Went through decades of losing big until Brett Farve showed up and now Aaron Rodgers. My wife is a huge Drew Brees/Saints fan so she would love to see Mac go to the Saints but I don't think he will be around that late in the 1st round unless they trade up.
