Disappointing Pre-Game

I like having ex-players come back to the campus (good for recruiting and it helps me teach my children about the history of AL football), I just thought they could have done a better job of making them feel welcomed. I knew all the names, but only recognized Bobby Humphrey. I couldn't tell who they were referring to as they were being introduced (they were not even facing the crowd).

Even though I like having the players recognized, I must admit that I do get tired of recognizing the other 30 people during the game. I do appreciate everything they have done (and the money they contribute), but it just gets a little old. Maybe we could recognize them in the program? Sorry if I sound rude - I don't mean to be. I just love AL football and want to watch the game.

No flame to you but you think Alabama should just "recognize" our veterans in
the program? While you're teaching your children the history of Alabama football, add to their lesson by listening to the veteran being honored and let
your children know what this man (or woman) has done in the service to their
country. Let them know the reason the other folks are being honored (national championship, SEC championship, etc.).

As I said, no flame to you at all. I enjoy the pre-game ceremonies and think it
is great that our veterans and other athletes are being honored.

I assumed I would get torched. I am VERY patriotic (my father and brother and many others in my family have served and are still serving) and I really appreciate what they did for me and my family and thank God every day. My brother is in Turkey right now. I DO teach my children the value of our military and to love and serve God. Actually, I wasn't talking about the military men they recognize. IMHO it has just gotten out of hand on the others. As for paying for the stadium, my tickets have gone up considerably during the past 20 years (including this year). I feel that having bought 4-6 tickets for the past 20 years does allow me to have an opinion - maybe not.

For sure you're allowed to have an opinion, but i would figure that someone who gives a couple million to the university has a bigger opinion than you, nothing personal.

just thinking about it - they didn't have anyone bring out the game ball did they? not doing that anymore??

...and hey, if it will get the other endzone closed in - so we can be up over 100,000 - they can recognize who ever they want in the pregame :)

Sorry I misunderstood your post Winsor. Wasn't trying to torch you OR question you patriotism. Roll Tide my crimson friend! :BigA:

They actually did have someone bring out the game ball, but it was right after the team came out and it was very loud. I couldn't even hear who they said it was and I sit on the 50 yard line 16 rows up! It was hardly noticeable. There was still a lot of other stuff going on, on the field.
