If it hasn't been said yet: Truckers to pass truckers in the passing lane but they can't get enough speed to get by, so they plug up both lanes!!!

I call it 18 wheeler drag racing. I-40 between Memphis and Little Rock is horrendous. I got behind one that lasted over 15 miles once.

Yep drove that strip for 7 years when we lived in Dallas! It's funny you mentioned that particular part of the highway. I've told my wife multiple times that I think that stretch of road is the most boring drive in America!

I would nominate that stretch of road on I-35 going South thru Kansas and Oklahoma. Absolute boring. Then, if it's in the early evening, you see Oklahoma City's lights and you feel like it's Oz on the prairie.

I also nominate the stretch of I-80 West out of Nebraska, when you cross over into Colorado. The terrain looks like another planet. No trees. Nada for miles until you get closer to Denver.

Yes, Kansas into Colorado is pretty boring until you start seeing those Rockies rise out of the plains.

Stopped there one time to make a sandwich at a rest area and before I could eat it the bread had dried out to the consistency of paper!

So I recently joined a Facebook group for widowed people. It is supposed to be a dating site but it is mostly just a lot of conversations about a variety of topics.

Earlier today someone posted a question about what a red flag is in a woman. I posted the following:

Poor command of the English language. You don’t have to speak the King’s English at all times but “I seen” and “I ain’t got none” are like fingernails on a chalkboard.

I got called a racist for denigrating AAVE, which is a formal name for Ebonics. I never once said anything about black people or any other race. White people who don’t speak proper English annoy me as well and that is mostly what I was referring to. But two people saw fit to accuse me of being racist when I said nothing of the kind.

It probably didn’t help as I also had “used to be a guy” as a red flag. I did add I had nothing against trans women, I just didn’t want to date one.

Just needed to vent for a minute.

Reiterating my hatred of oblivious idiots (obliviots).

Sometimes, it's intentional. Sometimes they just don't care.

This morning at my weekly coffee with fellow old guys, a moron was carrying on a facetime call in the coffee shop. So you can hear both ends of the call.

And it wasn't even a kid. Guy looked to be 40-ish.

Goodness, I hate public inconsideration of other people.

Geez, some people take their role as social media Nazi so seriously that they have to invent things that offend them. I find most intelligent people don't like to be around those that are inarticulate. I certainly don't care to spend my time interacting with native-born* people who butcher the basics. It is almost always a waste of time. And like you said, it has nothing to do with race. That your attackers made it about race is very telling. It seems they have very low expectations for a certain race.

*I obviously make allowances for those where English is not their first language. I wouldn't expect them to master all the nuances of pronunciation. But, with rare exceptions, their high intelligence is obvious, and it is still very easy to have a pleasant and interesting conversation with them.

SIAP, but why do some people, when at a red light, leave about 30 feet between themselves and the car in front of them? It bothers me on principle, but it's particularly annoying when I'm behind someone who does this and it prevents me from moving up to get into a turn lane. This results in me having to wait for another cycle of the lights before I can go about my business.

Agreed Bodhi.

I think the answer is that it either doesn't occur to them that their behavior affects others. Or maybe it does, but they don't care.

Less charitably, they're either (1) stupid, or (2) self-centered and rude. One or the other.
