Question: Do you think CAG will be able to lock the state down?

assuming he takes the job. makes me wish we had made the move a year ago.(i.e. Demarcus Cousins, Christian Watford, and Eric Bledsoe)

I think he will recruit well and coach'em better than CMG. He would seem to be an excellent overall choice.

That's been a big frustration to Bball fans here. We have talent in-state which we are losing, but the bigger rub with me was the fact that once the players arrived there was no marked improvement on their overall skill set. That is unless you liked guys who were 6' 11'' taking 20 ft. jumpers and by their senior year making a couple.

I think he's every bit the recruiter CMG was, maybe better. No question he's a better coach on the fundamentals, which we've been lacking for some time. He understands and teaches good defense, whereas it seems that the only time we had good defense under CMG was when there was a hardnosed defensive coach on staff. CMG wouldn't, or couldn't, teach defense...

LCN mentioned the possibility of luring Demarcus Cousins back in state, but aren't there some question marks concerning his character? also, what about the possibility of signing Eric Bledsoe, as he is still unsigned as well.

Is it my imagination or do you see a lot less homestate loyalty in basketball compared to football? The great programs draw kids from all over. I am not sure that anyone truly locks down a state unless they are already competing for kids from all parts of the country. Carolina gets the great kids from Carolina because they are Carolina, a nationally-attractive program. We are long way from there and will begin locking down kids when we really increase the appeal of our team and program.

I think the exposure the most talented kids get through the AAU programs leads to a lot of that, but I might be wrong.

It is hard to lock down a state in basketball because there is just not that many scholarships to go around by one school. Each D-1 school is limited to something like 12 or 13 scholarship players. So every year a school usually only has 3-5 scholarships to give out in a given year. The better schools recruit nationally and cherry pick their in state talent.

If he has a winning program and has some personality, he'll get the majority in state. CMG had conflicts which began to hurt his recruiting. We have discussed some of them ad nauseum.
