We as fans can look ahead to any game we wish. It is the players and coaches that need to focus on the next opponent. :) That is the beauty of message boards.

I admit it. I'm one of those that says "we can't look past _______", but when I do it, its more like I'm trying to avoid jinxing anything. I just can't ever say "Oh, we've definitely got this team beat." I know its stupid, but that's what I do.

Case in point... Last season my mother was in town and we went to watch the Alabama Arkansas game with the DFW Alumni Association. 'Bama was doing okay when my mom says, "Oh, there is no way Arkansas can come back and beat us." Next thing we know, Arkansas did just that. Realisticly, I know her comment had nothing to do with it, but now whenever we watch games together, I tell her I love her, but she needs to keep her trap shut!

I know its dumb, but that is why I do it.

(edited because I forgot to mention this happened last season)

As I recall that was when Eli was their QB and it wouldn't have mattered what time we played them. It's going to be a little different situation this time in Oxford.

One game @ a time...

The Tide Remembers....

We better be ready to play better than two years ago," Shula said Sunday night, referring to Alabama's 43-28 loss at Ole Miss in 2003. That game started at 11:40 in the morning, due to a Jefferson-Pilot Sports broadcast, and the Tide fell behind 24-0 in the first quarter.

When someone starts a thread about the Tide matchup with LSU for example, I have a problem with the "one game at a time" crowd hijacking the thread with a barrage of let's worry about the next game first.

What the tidefans message boards are for is to generate thoughtful discussion. If someone wants to discuss the game at the end of the schedule or the 2050 schedule that's fine with me. Discuss possible bowl matchups. All of us on message boards have no input in the gameplan from week to week except as armchair coaches. If the team or coaches aren't focused on the next game it isn't because someone on a message board is looking ahead. ;)

Yeah they also had a pretty good offense led by Eli Manning. First round draft pick, QB of the NEW YORK GIANTS!

Spurlock is no Manning, and he has a borken finger, and they have beat Citadel and memphis! Ohhhhhhh no!

I don't mind the "one game at a time" thought if it'll slow down our season just a tad! ;) Before you know it, it'll be time for the SEC Championship and Bowl games.

RTR!

Ole Miss probably has enough size and speed to try to keep themselves in the game for a while. Their defense has managed to keep anyone they've played so far from exploding on them points wise. They are supposed to have a good kicking game all around.

But they lack something offensively in the playmaker column, and I think they are fairly old school in coaching philosophy.

The early line is Alabama by 12 and 1/2 on the road. I think Bama covers that spread easily.

The games that we have remaining that concern me are LSU, because they have great talent on offense and I can see them playing for four quarters; and Auburn, not because I think they're all that talented this year, but because IRON Bowls are usually crazy games.

But have heart. The only responsiblity any of us have is enjoying the wins.

And we have some more of them coming.

Simply put:

Ole Miss will not be able to move the ball on us. Their defense might hang in the game for a while, but the play of Ole Miss' offense will ensure that the defense will be on the field a LONG time. Ole Miss averages 312 yards a game, ranking them 97th in the country.

Just a secondary thought:

Tennessee averages 336 yards a game, ranking them 86th.

We average 402 yards a game, ranking us 46th.
