According to published reports by Andrew Bone, Dre Kirkpatrick has passed his summer class and now is awaiting to hear from the NCAA Clearinghouse. Previous reports indicated that if Kirkpatrick passed the course he should be approved, so hopefully it will all hold up.

Hopefully all will be well and Kirkpatrick can enroll for the second summer session. At the very least, though, it's one big hurdle out of the way. You couldn't get to the Clearinghouse without getting through this first.

That is awesome news! We would've been fine, IMO, without him in the secondary this year. However, with him in the mix provided he's all he's cracked up to be, that just gives our defense another dimension for CNS to throw at the opposition. Outstanding news!!!

The 1992 defense was so good that the offense didn't have to be world-beaters. Starting this season, we have a chance at a defense that good.

You bring back those defensive backs we already have -- they have been through the Saban School of Defensive Backs -- throw in someone like Mark Barron, along with those two guys from Mississippi , and now Dre Kirkpatrick, and you have skill on defense. I must say it -- Javier Arenas is one of my favorites ever at Alabama. This is becoming a heckuva defensive secondary.

The linebacking corps may be the best in the nation.

The line is not only spearheaded by Cody, there is so much beef that Saban has brought in that this could be the best defensive line in the country.

Defense wins championships.

I certainly hope Dre makes it! These cornerbacks that have legitimate NFL caliber talent need to be around coach Saban every minute possible. There's no time to waste at prep school or JUCO.

Great news! An ex-player was on the radio the other day and was asked about Kirkpatrick. He said Dre is a very confident young man that started some good natured ribbing with Julio. He told Julio that he would see a lot of him on the field and will cover him like a blanket. I'm sure Julio will teach him a lesson or two early but i like the kids attitude and confidence.

Players like these will us get our swagger back!:BigA:

I have to admit, I was getting a little worried. I know he still has to await word from the NCAA Clearinghouse, but I'm excited to know he's that much closer to being on campus.

Dre Kirkpatrick has been approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse according to BOL.

Kirkpatrick gets the word
Alabama five-star signee Dre Kirkpatrick has passed a summer class that held up his enrollment at UA and has also been approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse, according to a source close to the situation.

Kirkpatrick, a defensive back from Gadsden City High, was expected to be among 21 signees enrolling at the Capstone for UA's first summer session, which began June 1. Instead, he will enroll on July 1 for the second summer session. One of the most critical signees in the class, Kirkpatrick enters UA with six scholarship defensive backs entering their final season at Alabama. Rated the nation's No.1 cornerback by Rivals.com, Kirkpatrick (6-2, 180 pounds) also took official visits to Florida and Texas.
