I can understand the pressure of staying in your home state, but c'mon this is Kentucky football, not Kentucky basketball. This kid needs to think about his future and not worrying about trying to please his hometown. If his eyes are definitely focusing on the NFL, then he has a much greater chance at Bama as the coaches will give him the preparation he needs to get to the next level. He'd be crazy not to roll with the Tide.....

Correct me if I am wrong here but I believe that Elam is the man of his house where he lives with his mom and sister. The fringe benefits of being a rock star recruit definitely helps them all quite a bit if he stays in state. The point is that everyone has different priorities and perceptions and that is especially true for a teenager. Again, I don't feel that the kid can go wrong either way and I really do wish him the best of luck with whatever he decides.

REally?? Hmmm. Will they be staying for the announcement? This kid must really be torn. Don't envy him.
I think it comes down to will he make a business decision or heart decision. Usually the heart wins out. I just hate the fact that Stoops will probably be gone after 2 or 3 years. Whether he gets fired or finds a better job.

I think it's pretty obvious at the juncture the high esteem that we hold this kid in. We'll see how it turns out, but we've put as much recruiting muscle into trying to land him as we have any recruit in recent years.

I am probably the biggest pessimist on this Board, but if he and his family are really accepting an in-home from our three coaches just hours before he announces, that seems like fantastic news for us.

All joking aside, though, it should be kept in mind by everyone that Elam is announcing nearly a full week before NSD, and given how torn he has been throughout this entire process, it would come as no real surprise if he ended up changing his mind between his announcement and NSD. Certainly, the respective coaching staffs aren't going to suddenly stop recruiting him just because he holds a press conference at his school.

I have to agree with you...it seems like everything is pointing to us, IMO.

-His mom stating she would relocate if he chose Alabama, giving public approval for his choice...
(Family approval to leave the state, which has been the biggest issue to date)

- He had a great official visit, and even said it made his choice even more difficult
(I think that visit may have swayed him to us, and it was a tough choice for him to make due to pressures)

-Three Tide coaches meeting with him tomorrow morning, the day of his announcement, while Kentucky coaches are meeting with him this afternoon...(seems like Kentucky is making one more attempt to sway him, while our coaches are going to support his announcement)...

...This is sounding very promising indeed...

This thing is still very fluid....but like I said last week my prediction is Bama and with the info out there I will stick to this. Bama is goin to get the last visit with him the morning of his announcement....and they are sending some great recruiters in Coach Thompson, Coach Smart, and Coach Davis. His mom has given him the okay....and Elam recently tweeted that he hopes everyone still supports him when he makes his announcement and that he was making the decision for himself and choosing the best place for him....I think with mama in our corner we get Mr. Elam....so Elam to Bama if Im wrong Ill eat crow...but from all Im hearing I feel strong about this one..

very recently, it WAS pointing at Kentucky...It feels like his official visit was huge moving him our way. All the news seems to say bama right now.

Yep, but truthfully, if it is an indication that he'll pick us, it's kind of sad to think that they're making it closed because they're worried fans/ students would be upset at his decision. I don't get the type that would boo or heckle a kid that picks an out-of-state or rival school. Let him have his day either way.

Just cheer the kid on at the event and then call him names on twitter or a message board. (blue is our sarcasm font; I do not condone this behavior for any lurkers out there unfamiliar with site policy)
