Maybe this might help us with Tebow (SP?)
By all indications, UF will sign two QB's this season. With Tebow, he is looking for a system that will lead him to the NFL. That is one of the reasons he's considering Michigan. They have a lot of success in that area.

A couple of things to consider. Tebow isn't one that would be afraid of some competition. that being said, neither was Brock Berlin when he signed with UF but that comparison is apples to oranges with their new regime.

It's believed UF is the team to beat and I see no reason not to believe that myself. But, as with any player and the recruiting seasons as they are, they aren't unbeatable.

When it comes to QB's and UA it is important to remember this staff has made it their MO to offer, but conditionally with the final push coming in the summer camps.

According to one of Tebow's coaches, TT has questions about UF, and this new QB commit will not help UF. He also stated that Tebow wants to stay in the south east, so his friends and family can see him play. So Michigan, OU, USC are at a big disadvantage mainly b/c they are so far away. IMO, it will come down to Bama, UGA, and maybe Miami. Apparantly TT is not interested in FSU. So right now, I would say our chances are as good as anyone to land TT. Remember that his best friend, Will Oakley, is a RS Frsh at Bama, and TT really likes coach Shula.

Well, if Tebow is looking for an easy path to the NFL, it sure can't hurt UF that Meyer just produced the #1 draft choice. At Utah and only 20 years old at that. Let's not forget that Gainsville is just down the road from J'ville and both his parents are Gator grads.

Well, from what I heard about Alex Smith is he is a football junkie and eat lived and breathed football.. Does Tim T do all these things...no certainty that Tebow would be just like Smith....maybe, but Utah wasn't in the SEC either...I truly believe that Smiths numbers would have been alot lower if he had played in the SEC

Snead was basically going to commit to Urban Meyer, period. They had a lot of mutual interest when Meyer was at Utah. The only exception was, that if Meyer went to ND, Snead was going to look around. But, when he went to UF, it was basically a given.

I ultimately think Tebow will come down to Bama, UF, and Michigan...regardless of who the teams have at the position.

There's no doubt that Smith's numbers would've been lower if he had've played in the SEC, surrounded by MAC talent, that is. He put up dominant numbers in the MAC playing with and against comparaable talent. Why wouldn't he be able to do it in the SEC if he's playing with and against comparable talent?

I believe the SEC is the best conference, year after year, but it's no longer automatically head and shoulders above other conferences, even the MAC. Hell, Maine beat MSU last season. Northern Illinois and Hawaii punked us. How many SEC teams do you think would have beat Utah last season? Honestly.

you are forgetting that the freshman josh portis followed meyer to florida and will be the leak replacement next year. he is a real good one, and the others recruited should not count on his giving up the position to them. he is a natural option qb with great speed.
