Earl Alexander has narrowed his list to two schools, Alabama and Auburn.. should be interesting..

The latest interview I read about EA said he thought he could compete with Caudle and Ensminger at QB at the Barn. But, when talking about Bama, he mentioned the possibility of early PT at WR.

hmmm, me thinks the Barn is feeding him the whole "you will start out as a QB" deal-- which WILL NOT be the case.

I would think that not being honest with recruits would come back to bite you eventually, anybody agree?

I'm glad Coach Shula and the staff are taking the honest approach with these kids.

When I heard he was favoring Auburn after the Iron Bowl visit I immediately thought they must have told him he could come in and compete for the starting QB spot. That sounds like something Tubberville would do when he knows there will be at least 3 ahead of him in the pecking order. I am sure he will be a WR at Auburn if he goes there.

Hmmm...

Doesn't Kelcy Luke play at Alabama A&M now? Seems he believed a similar line... Unfortunately some kids don't know when they are being duped. :frown:

Earl says in a new interview that both Alabama and Auburn have told him that he could start out at quarterback with the possibility to move if "things don't work out." This could actually favor Alabama due to the fact that we will not have an established QB, even though there is exactly zero chance of Earl Alexander being a starting QB in the SEC. But I guess in his mind, the depth chart at Alabama is a little more favorable. Now, if he is set on at least starting out at quarterback, a Tebow commit could scare him away. But he could also possibly enjoy the idea of playing with TT.

I'm not sure how these schools (us included) can look at this kid in the eyes and tell him he can play QB. All it takes is one look at his film and throwing motion/mechanics to see that it's not going to happen.

he should go to UAB or Troy if he wants to play QB.....I mean that with all due respect and honesty.

He'll last through fall camp at the latest at QB at either Bama or Barn.

RTO, am I missing something here? He's a phenomenal athlete, but he throws the football like he's throwing a shot-put. I hate it for the kid that he's being fed the line that he can play QB. I wonder if he really honestly believes that, or his pride just won't quite let the idea of playing QB go. He can be a great WR with some work, but he will not be a great QB.

Why would this dude want to play QB. He could end up being a 3rd string QB at Alabama or Auburn, or he could be playing in the NFL as a bigtime WR. I'm sure he has his reasons, but I just think it seems logical he would play WR.

I don't know.....he really is an athlete "playing" QB. You really can't even compare him to Jimmy Johns in the slightest.

I've heard lots of people say Kelcey Luke was a much better looking QB at this stage.

What's the harm in telling him that they will try him out at QB? His freshman year he can work out with the QB's and if it doesn't work then redshirt him and tell him he'd be better served to play another position. If it does work at QB then that's even better. No harm, no foul. What's the big deal? Lots of players switch positions when they get to college.

To me by doing that you're telling the kid you could see him playing QB for your team. I can't imagine either of these coaching staffs truly believing that. But hey, maybe I'm wrong and they do actually think he can play QB. I just don't see it.

If Shula told him he would get a look at QB, I hope he told him exactly how short it would be. Maybe EA is having a hard time believing what the coaches are telling him about the difference in a college QB and HS. Perhaps he's refusing to accept the truth about his ability, but the coaches know that once he gets in camp and sees the speed and difficulty first hand, he'll know he needs to be at WR. Or maybe he's spreading rumors to get one of the teams to promise him PT under center. Or maybe we're all wrong. :p

Answer: time. Unless our current crop of WRs suddenly get much better at catching the ball, our incoming WRs need to be ready to play ASAP. To spend time fooling around with EA at QB, we would be foolishly spending valuable time on something that would not ultimately work. Why? Just for the sake of satisfying his curiosity.

E A my take on his interview!

This is the same ole Barn BS..............OC A B at the barn telling him he has good potential at QB in his system...... BULL $*&#! I can tell you one thing that's total BULL. Tub's is known for saying anything to get the recruit, just ask K Luke. If he goes Barn after what K Luke was told ,then what can you say!
