Yes to both questions. Provided he is talented enough and earns it, he will be playing against some decent talent (although it is nowhere near the caliber of a UT, UF, or AU defense). In some ways, I wonder if it is not better for some players like Ford to be honing their skills as a prep player instead of "riding the pine" their freshman year (likely that would NOT have been the case with him). Concerning the stars, at least one of the two recruiting services I read (Rivals or Scout) rank both prep and JUCO players. Both Fanney/Washington were 4-stars in the ranking last year.
