I also think it comes down to which shots are open. There are teams that practically ignore the middle of the floor when defending us because we won't shoot there. If I can flash a guy to the elbow for wide open 12-15 footers a few times a game, that seems like a good play because college shooters should be able to hit 60% of open shots inside of 15 feet. Coach Oats is doing fantastic things for us at Bama, but I always think there is room for improvement. I'm guessing Coach Oats is looking for improvement much more than we are. He seems determined to bring Bama a championship. Well, I should say a national championship because he already has a few SEC titles hanging in the rafters.Seriously,
No difference in made pct between 21ft and 12ft shots. That's not part of the philosophy. The reasoning goes if you can shoot 40% from 3 you have to shoot 60% from inside the arc.
But, what if you only shoot 28%? Now, 42% is the mark. Much more likely 15 ft and in.
No difference from ranges? I can literally prove that wrong in my driveway.
More simple math: 2 > 0
The best evidence is we are knocked out every year by a team that beats us with 2s not 3s
I just think a nice balance is best.
