Hey folks...

I need everyone to check a couple of things ASAP:

1) Remove links from your signature.
If you don't, we will...and we'll place a block on you ever posting a signature again. It doesn't matter what you're linking to, remove it. (This assumes you have a signature). Also, remove offensive or harsh political statements from your signature. (i.e. "All conservatives are evil" ... "All liberals are communists")

2) Check your registered email address.
If you have changed your email address in the last 10 years, I want you to verify that the email address you are registered with here is correct. We very rarely send out emails to our members, but if we do, you can bet you want to be on the receiving end.

3) If you send us an email PLEASE (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE) include the following:

  • registered user name
  • registered email address
  • the problem you are experiencing
I get so many emails each day from people whose only message is "need password"... but their email address isn't the registered one and they don't include their user name. I'm a pretty smart guy...but I don't have ESP...

4) Please read the FAQ's before you send us an email or IM. We have 21,000+ members - it is becoming harder to respond rapidly to questions that are already answered in the FAQ pages.

Thanks for cooperating!!

Have a great week!
ROLL TIDE!

I'm going to throw one more in. If you lied when you registered and said you'd read the policies, go back and read them. At least, read the sticky above about dupes and teasers. I've had four relatively new members "go postal" on me in the last few days just because they had posted an obvious teaser which got deleted. It was as if it were a deadly personal insult to have a teaser thread deleted. READ THE POLICIES!

Even though I am not a Mod, I am going to become the "Teaser Title Police" those things truly annoy me.

Just curious, what's up with the signature deal? Something go horribly wrong?
Not really 'horrible' ... but we had a couple that linked to some junk. It's in our policies to not allow links in signatures and we're just going to enforce it better now. Some moderators/admins may have links ... these are pre-approved.

Interesting...so a few bad apples ruin it for the rest of us? Not trying to stir the pot but my company does the same thing...use a shot gun when a rifle would do the trick.

Not trying to be a jerk, I just push our leadership team to take ownership and take the time to fix the problem and not make a blanket statement.

I guess my bad day at work is filtering into my stress relief time...

Don't want to sound stupid, but what is a dupe or teaser?
Dupe = "Duplicate Thread"

Teaser Thread Title. Example Titles:

McElroy

You're not going to believe this but.....

Did you see ......

A teaser doesn't let the reader know what the thread is about, but makes them click on it to find out!

dupe= duplicate thread (you started one when there is already a very similar one that is still "active")

teaser= the thread titles that resemble "You wont believe this....", or something so broad, like "NFL players" (when the thread is talking specifically about the NFL Players Association and salary cap ordeal).

I am sure the mods can go into more detail, but I think that is the main idea. If you check the board first to make sure you arent starting a new thread when there is already one about the same subject, and you describe the thread title so that people can tell what the thread is discussion without actually viewing it, then you should be fine.

Gees we have too many mods 'want-a-be's'

Here is a thought, how about just reading and posting and let the mods control the board.
Trust me, they have enough people removing posts and locking threads as it is today.

Everyone on the forum is supposed to abide by the forum rules. I don't see anything wrong with another member who is not a mod (BUT DOES UNDERSTAND THE RULES) reporting something he or she sees that appears wrong to a moderator. Mods-in-training so to speak can't lock threads or move posts, only the mods can do that.

Thats the politically correct way to do things.
