Yeah, guessing he has no idea. I don’t think it’s season ending, but it’s definitely a decent foot/ankle injury. It was on a tackle as he was crossing the goal line, and the defender rolled over him. He had to be carried off the field. Hopefully, he can return sometime in September.

Brooks has a concussion and should be ready for game 1. I read that on another site. I think the O line is improved... can't get any worse than last year.... and they are going up against a top 10 defense in the nation. I just hope there are no more injuries (especially on offense) in the next scrimmage and beyond. Don't need one position group all getting injured like in the past when we had most all RB's injured and then another year it was almost all the Linebackers injured. I think our depth is good at most positions but it will be hard if there are multiple injuries at the same position.

The OL will benefit from going against the DL with our talent. Hopefully will help them not be surprised when we see the better defenses down the road.

My understanding is they are NOT that close in ability. While Mack is a solid QB, as we witnessed in some spot play last year, Russell is, IIRC, our highest 5 star recruit in history.

The only thing keeping it close is Mack's familiarity with the offensive system he's been studying since his 1st year with CKD at Washington.

Concerning #1, it's about the TD/INT ratio. Every great QB will turn it over, but how many TDs they give you is the bigger stat. I get the sense this is who Russell is. Because of his inexperience compared to Mack, he'll probably turn it over occasionally, but his potential for big plays is also off the charts!

BTW, I don't mean to sound as if Mack can't be a solid QB. I think he can. I'm just so much in awe of Russell's star potential to be the next great Alabama QB!!!

I think the knowing the offense "better" is a bit overhyped by everyone. Doesn't it basically come down to mastering the plays that you practice? I mean, it's not like they are going to call some obscure play in the play book during a game that hadn't been practiced in the previous week.

It's not really about the depth of the playbook, and this is something that's a bit unique to the QB position. The QB just has a LOT they have to know and potentially adjust to. It's way more than just knowing how to execute the play called. It's knowing that with this play, if the D aligns a certain way, I either need to make a change in the play called, or that the read sequence might be different, and which routes are most likely to be open given a certain coverage and so on. Then I have to do that all again when the ball is snapped. It's just a lot a QB has to know.

That's what they get for retiring his number and then, giving it to the first NIL deal who wants it or he's leaving and/or not signing.

THis is just one of the many, MANY headaches that we will have to see sorted out. His lawyers may have said to him that if they don't fight for a cut of his playing-days NIL he could lose it all. Or, at least a major part. Probably woudn't have been such an issue but for the Heisman. His lawyers prbably see this as unneeded/unnegotiated devaluing of his jerseys, Number (for vid games, etc) and god knows what else?
