We were so excited to finally get a Steak & Shake here in Mobile a few years ago. Then on our first visit, I was shocked to see the hamburger patty no bigger than a small McDonalds hamburger. Very disappointing.

Back Yard Burgers are pretty good for fast food. This chain may not be the best known and not in that many areas yet. Wendy's and Whattaburger are OK.

Back Yard Burger and there's no close second. They're a fairly new chain started by some guy in Mississippi and their burgers taste just like the name implies, like you cooked it on your back yard grill. Everything I've tried there is great, but just the basic burger works just fine for me.

I've never heard of Back Yard Burger.

A little ashamed to admit that from time to time, I like those little square Krystals! Back in our younger, partying days, we used to call them "gut busters"!

I'm going to second your thought on that one. I've eaten at a couple of Steak and Shakes around the southeast, and I wasn't that impressed with the hamburger.

Not exactly "Fast Food" but has anyone here ever tried a "Bubba Burger? My son keeps a box in his freezer and loves them. I have tried one and they are pretty good. Not as good as made at home with fresh ground chuck, but the best frozen patty I think I have ever tried.

Milo's Hamburgers--hands down, is the best, imo. They're unique because of the sauce, and they will even give you extra sauce free for your fries. You must try it if you are up this way.

They are still called that along with "bathroom busters" and "y'all may wanna wait 20 minutes before goin in there" also my personal fave "WOOOOOO Doggie Somebody light a Match!!!!" I'm saddened to say I hear those WAAAAYYYYYY to many times from my friends and brother's friends after eatin Krytals. But my favorite hambuger is from Hamburger Hut in East Cobb County Georgia, they are soooooo good, my best friend who hates chicken and only eats hambugers agrees.

My little Backyard Buger rant NEVER..NEVER get their chicken sandwiches they tend to be WAAAAYYYYYY under cooked, so I don't eat there any more.

It's been 7 to 8 years since I have eaten any kind of fast food. One of my favorite's was Wendy's (chain) and Gurney Burgers (BIG ole burgers) was my local favorite.

7 to 8 years!!! Geez, your arteries must be disgustingly clear. What are you doing, trying to live forever?

Seriously, I admire your willpower.

I can attest to the Krystal gut busters. In my day, and when the drinkin' age was 18, an added six pack of Miller High Life would turn you into a small nuclear device.

I'd have to say Hardees mondo burgers. The beef is excellent. They're come light years from where they were.

I loved Krystals when I was in Tuscaloosa. It used to crack me up that on Friday and Saturday nights in Tuscaloosa at midnight (or later), that place would be packed with folks a little (or a lot) "toasted" that came in there to get something to eat. They were good. However, my son went to the one in Huntsville (close to Madison Square Mall) and got food poisoning a few years ago. I doubt he'll ever eat one of those again.

Bubba Burgers are pretty good, but I seem to remember them being a tad expensive for frozen burgers. After all, it's not like making fresh burgers is too hard. :p

These days, the only fast food burgers that I can stand are Wendy's burgers. But, like all other fast food burgers, theirs have gone down in quality a lot over the last 10 or 15 years.

Nobody seems to have had a "What-a-Buger".

Their double meat, double cheese, bacon with all the trimings is the greatest!!

Cooked fresh while you wait, not taken out from under a heat lamp!!

Funny story about Hardees...

I went to a Hardees once, and I ordered a hamburger, ketchup only. Well, they got the order so good that it was only a bun and ketchup... no meat. I pretty much lost any taste for Hardees' after that. Breakfast, though, that's a different story.
