I like Rally's Big Buford with bacon, minus lettuce (the healthy stuff just don't go with a burger).

Back Yard Burgers are pretty good for fast food. This chain may not be the best known and not in that many areas yet. Wendy's and Whattaburger are OK.
Whataburger and Backyard Burger, I saw both of them in Destin, FL, wanted stop but did not, I will next time after these rave reviews

Hamburger King in downtown Montgomery is good

And when I was in CA (a few years back UA played a game out there and this was one of few highlights from the trip), I think the place was Jack in the Box, excellent burger

I can't remember the name of the place, but it's in Walla Walla, Washington. Great burgers, even better onion rings (they grow an onion out there that's right up there with a Videlia), and milk shakes that were a religious experience.

Backyard Burger - just saw it yesterday is in process on Taylor Rd right as you approach the Vaughn Rd intersection coming off I85, it's on the left. And Starbuck's is coming right in front of East Chase!

Well, from the looks of todays Mobile Register, looks like a trip by Ed's would be worth it if you're in the area!

Welcome to Ed's

JACKSON, Ala. -- Ed Harris ambles past the sign out front of his restaurant just off busy U.S. 43 and glances up at the big, block script that announces the name -- ED'S -- and at the decades-old neon, with two letters burned out, that, when flicked on at night, tells motorists HAM RGERS.

"I worked a lot of long, hard hours to get here," says the 69-year-old Harris, who's been overseeing this buzzing drive-in since the summer of 1964 and has been its owner since 1984. Today will mark the date, 40 years ago, that the short-order eatery first served sandwiches and milkshakes out of its windows.

Not much will power TommyMac! I just happen to help build a few fast food processing plants(beef, turkey, chicken and pork) McDonalds, Taco Bell, Tyson, Hardee's, and KFC. After the second one I quit fast food cold turkey, after about 7-8 I started working in Pharmaceutical plants. There a lot cleaner and not so mind blowing.

Can't wait for the BackYard Burger to try. You gotta give Hardees credit, their new hamburgers are extra good because of the top quality beef they now use. It is a great move for them. I also like Hardees because the use LEAF lettuce, not the shredded stuff that falls out into your lap (or stomach, if that's in the way). I recently ate another hamburger at Chris' in downtown Montgomery. I have to say I really, really liked it. I had to order another.

Where is the other downtown Montgomery hamburger placce located? Thanks.

BUTTER BURGERs in Hattiesburg, MS, way back in 1973-6 at the "Frosty" were great. It had almost as much FAT as McD's. Butter-Fried patty , buttered, toasted bun, and my heart starts skipping beats thinking about it.

Tried my first Milo burger in Birmingham Saturday. It was definately different. Wasn't a bad burger and I would eat there again. But I still like What-a-Burger best. Will try the back yard burger the next time I go up that way.

Milo's Hamburgers--hands down, is the best, imo. They're unique because of the sauce, and they will even give you extra sauce free for your fries. You must try it if you are up this way.
I saw several folks promote Milo's. I went for first time ever yesterday. I don't get the hype. Guess we all have different tastes. I thought it was bland sauce. JMO. Burger King angus is pretty good, compared.

Scrammer,

Actually you are in the majority of people that I know that have tried Milo's. Most people that I know don't like it, but you have to admit that it is unique. I love them though.....the secret's in the sauce....

Steve's Pool hall in Tusc/NP on Haighway 82, hands down.

When I was in law school down there, we ate at almost every restaurant in town. One day five of us called around and asked the restaurants if the had the "Bggest, Greasiest, Juiciest, Mouthwatering Burger in Town". Only one place stepped up to the plate and and said "Hell yea we have the Biggest, Greasiest, Juiciest Mouthwatering Burger in the state." That was Steve himself saying that.

We had never been there, so we loaded up and went there for lunch. Let me tell you the man was not lying.

Don't know if Steve's pool hall is still there or not, but if it is, go in and ask for the "biggest, greasiest, juiciest, mouthwatering burger. You won't be disapointed.

Besides that PJ's gut grinders drive through is pretty good.

We have a Cheeburger Cheeburger here - a few, actually. They're O.K.

C.S.'s in Jackson (MS) has a couple on their menu: the CS burger (named for the restuarant - Central Station), and the Inez Burger - named for legendary waitress Inez. I'm not sure if Inez is still around - I haven't lived there since 1989. There was a local newspaper columnist that immortalized the Inez Burger in an article in the mid 80's.

Of course, experinecing an Inez Burger at C.S.'s was also consuming the atmosphere of C.S.'s itself. I saw at various times people from bankers to politicians to high school buds to people tucked away in the corner conducting their illicit affairs.

Actually, Inez got to know me one foggy night because I walked out on my food/booze tab. Fortunately, my friend was there to take care of it. When my bud told me about it the next day my response was "Huh? What you talking about? We wuz at C.S.'s last night?"
