Well, since this is Iron Bowl week, how about we talk about our favorite moments in this rivalry?

Three moments that I really think stand out are:

1967: Ken Stabler's run in the mud
1981: 315 (Enough said.)
1985: "The Kick" by Van Tiffin

1981 sticks out in my mind, but not because of 315. Mostly because of Linnie Patrick's gutsy running in the final TD. For those that don't know, Linnie wasn't exactly always on good terms with Coach Bryant but that was some "hard" running in that final drive to put the game away!

I was watching a small b&w tv in my barracks room in Great Lakes, Ill. By the time Van Tiffin's kick sailed just over the crosssbar, I was flat out on the floor from exhaustion! Only time I ever passed out without the help of an adult beverage.

Probably the best I've seen in person was Stallings' final game at Legion Field . . . the last-minute TD by Dennis Riddle.

The best overall has to be the '85 game. I watched that one on TV (still have the VHS tape!).

Yeah, I remember Coach Bryant saying on his show after that play where Patrick ran through 8 or 9 awbern defenders, "Truly a great run! What I'd give if I could reach that young man."

Before the 1985 iron bowl, the awbern student section sang happy birthday to Bo Jackson as the team warmed up. After Tiffin's kick sailed through and some immediate celebration, the Bama student section regained its composure enough to sing Happy Birthday to Bo. It was also the first game I heard the words to the awbern alma mater, Old MacDonald had a farm, again sang by the Bama student section. What a great memory.

That Riddle swing pass is one of my most favorite Bama plays of all time, so I guess it has to be THE favorite vs. Auburn.
