They should just quit trying with the names and say stuff like, "Good tackle in the middle by #25." or "#14 rolls right... throws to a wide open #9 behind the defender for a touchdown!"
Correction, it's Fern and Dangleson or something like that.:biggrin:It's getting worse. My god if Verne L would have called R. Mclain "Orlando McCain" one more time I was going to throw my wife through the tv. Then Danielson calls McElwain "McElwine". This isn't a mess up here and there it is consistent and irritating. They are getting paid to announce a game. Part of that responsibility is to study the pronunciation of all the players. In the media world it is a VERY VERY bad screw up to get someone's name wrong when you have days to prepare.
These guys suck. They mutilate player's names and keep doing it.
and prior to that they said it was his first in an auburn game.....NOT! he did it in '06!:mad2:Another mistake they made was saying TWICE that Nikita Stover caught his first career TD....idiots, he caught 2 last year!
They tend to get a lot of their info wrong or mixed up. Gary Danielson even admitted on PF that he does not use notes. It certainly shows. lol Apparently the names of the players are just not that important to Tonguetwist. Still I say that by now someone in the production truck should correct him on some of the name butcherings. I absolutely hate to hear him say Orlando McCain and Parker Wilson, which are repeatedly thrown out there. It is either Wilson or John Parker Wilson (The Parker and Wilson are not hyphenated) and there is no excuse for continually saying Rolando McClain's name wrong.CBS' butchery of SEC broadcasts is abonimable. I can take the occasional mispronunciation of a player's name, if the accident is corrected. Jabba the Lundquist continues to mangle names and still can grasp the fact that our QB's name is not "Parker Wilson."
Their assinine commercial break during the first few minutes of the game was a production blunder that a high school crew could have avoided.
Plain and simple, CBS does a lousy job of covering SEC football games. When their contract is up, the SEC front office needs to negotiate with Fox or NBC for the premier contract. CBS has got to go.
Or, at least bring back Sean McDonough. He was professional, articulate and never got on either team's bandwagon during the course of the game.
I saw that (it was on the 1:57 into my DVR broadcast) and the people who put together that package are either ignorant or lazy. Because when I saw the video of Van Tiffin and his teammates jumping up and down, and CBS (or whoever is suppose to edit) didn't correct it, it really ticked me off. IMO, it means CBS and whoever put together that package are lazy.Did anybody else notice when CBS was showing those clips of past Iron Bowls during halftime that one of them was just an abomination? It's right at 1:30 into my DVR broadcast if you want to go look at it...
Here's what it said:
1985 - Van Tiffin Saves the Day
AUB Wins 23-22
My wife is still cleaning up the mess I made on the couch when I read that one.
