He mentioned the coaches gave the players off Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday last week.

Are you kidding me....before we go to Athens.

He said he saw it on the Bama social media postings.

Yeah, I thought I saw that too but wasn't sure if I was reading it right. Wow, if we lay an egg this Saturday you can bet your bottom dollar this will be one of the FIRST THINGS brought up in the media and by fans and it will just add another log on the fire of DeBoers hot seat.

I guarantee you Kirby didn't give his guys 4 days off.
And the Film Guy...guy....said as much. Said if its a tight game at half, Kirby will use that in the locker room and tell them Bama didn't take them seriously.

What are we doing DeBoer? Come on man.

This guy is playing with fire....if we lose and do it looking like we did at FSU.....that should be it right there. Fired, on the spot, as soon as you meet him on the way to the locker room.

That’s Bill Curry level crap and plays right into the charges that the team is mentally and physically weak.

I can only hope it's not true. If it is, and I think we'll be able to tell by watching the team this Saturday... then we can't afford another year of this.

The bigger question is did the coaches take those days off as well? I could ALMOST be okay with letting the players off for rest but for the coaching staff to really do a deep dive into watching film, coming up with an exhaustive gameplan for the game, etc. I'm really not liking the optics of this and the potential consequences this could cause during the game. Especially if the coaches aren't using this time to double down on preparation.

I wish we'd pump the brakes on this. There's a lot of speculation going on about some specifics we don't even know about.

And, isn't it common to get some time off in a bye-week? And even when they practice, it is typically more fundamentals rather than game planning, which is typically installed the week of the game, IIRC.

I have no problem at all with light practice. I don't... you do need some rest.

But when you have a team lacking discipline and fundamentals, and has a completely inept run game. You do make them show up, you do make them do some drills, you make sure you have their attention and their focus throughout the week.

I hope this isn't correct though like I said, but the issue is it sounds plausible. You look at the way this Alabama team has played, you look at how bad they've done with extended breaks between games, and... it's worrying.

The Film Guy is a former player, so for him to have this type of reaction tells me that having that many days off is possibly out of the norm for bye weeks. I know Saban gave days off during bye weeks but I'm almost certain it wasn't four straight days.

If this is true about practice and we get beat bad and look bad then you don’t even let him back in the Athletic Complex.

Bama is not Washington and the SEC is not the PAC 12!!!!!

We’ve played 3 games and the last two were against cream puffs.

Good grief that’s unbelievably weak.

I decided to try to get to the bottom of this:

"" Alabama held its first football practice of its first bye week on Thursday morning. "

"Georgia is on bye this week, but the Bulldogs were back at practice on Monday. "

Honestly, I think DeBoer just put his job on the line. It's a huge gamble, if he loses this will become massive news and I don't think he'll have much support left. If he wins, then the legend of being a big game coach will grow. It's a gamble I'm not sure he needed to take though, just give them light practice... avoid the optics.

This. Just have them show up for film work, light exercises and avoid the optics. This is like holding a lit piece of dynamite in your hand and hoping when it gets to the end of the fuse it doesn't blow up. This may not end well for him.
