1. Brodie is up over 200 lb now, good gain considering his injuries.
Question, can new strength coach get him to 210 by August? If not, at what weight will Brodie start the season (i.e. be listed at in the program)? Keep in mind he has never weighed more than 195 until now and played last season at several pounds below that.

2. Papa John, a really good man, speaking at a private/public forum at the end of the season said CMS would make several coaching changes. We now all know what did and didn't happen.
Question, do you think that JC is a part of CMS's inner circle, or just thinks he is?

Two answers!

1. Brodie will likely be in the 205 to 208 range when the season starts but it will be much more muscle than in the past. Therefore, he won't lose a lot of weight during the season. A stronger Brodie at 208 or so will be fine! There is no magical number, so anything over 200 with a lot of added muscle will be very helpful.

2. I don't know where you are getting your information, but John actually said that there WOULD NOT be changes in the off season and said that he fully expected Mike to keep the entire bunch together because nobody wanted further change.

If you have links that dispute that I'd like to see them because I've read just the opposite.

1. I think Brodie will start the year around 205 and will probably stay pretty close to that. Of course the bio in the program will add an inch or 2 and about 10 lbs to his true size. I don't really care as long as he stays between 200 and 235. Below 200 he's vulnerable to injury -- and he will get hit plenty this fall. Above 235 he will be too slow to elude the pass rush. I expect him to play next fall around 205 and 215 his senior year. I don't see him getting any bigger than that.

2. Don't know what was said and don't care. None of that matters since we know that no changes were made and we know Shula's reason for not making changes. Most importantly, I think the players like the fact that no changes were made. Everything I've read indicates the players really like our current coaches and I'm sure they are glad that they won't have to learn any new schemes.

I don't think JC is part of CMS' "inner circle" and he probably doesn't think he is, either. But you know he hears everything Brodie hears, thinks, and knows, so that gives him a different perspective as to what is going on than the rest of us have.

OK, so you have part of your answer to the first question in your second question.

If Papa John would send Brodie more of his pizzas, BC might put on more weight.

Either that, or Brodie needs to start eating with Ziffle. He could teach him how to put on the lbs.

BamaTree: Thanks for the clarification! That's actually interesting because I read during and immediately after the season in interviews with JC that he didn't expect any changes. Obviously when the media is invovled he's a bit more careful than when speaking at a closed or semi-closed event.

Nevertheless, the only change that was made was the only one that nobody expected!
