For all the folks here that thought Bama played badly against UM....

I've read it, but still think we didn't play up to expectations. Although, I've mentioned in every post there were some good things that came from the game. :) Call it my personal caveat.

Terry,

I agree that we didn't play as well as we could've, but we won. I think that say's a lot about this team. As other have said, we wouldn't have won this game two years ago.

That's exactly what I've said about this game in other threads. I've still got my worries especially with the UT game coming up. However, I also expected us to be at least 1 game in the loss column at this point...if not two. Yeah, two actually.

I mentioned in another thread that this is the first game we've won under Shula with an 8 point difference...first one we've had a game winning drive since the late 90's. We are improving.

I think that this could be good for the UT game. They have a week off (As usual) and I think it may hurt them. Wake up Calls can be real good before a big game!

I don't think it's so much BAMA not playing up to expectations as it was our opponents playing way over their own, and shocking the living daylights out of the BAMA Nation.

BAMA is 6-0 and added a little maturity yesterday. If things jell like they're capable this Saturday, making your reservations in Atlanta will not be overly ambitious. ;)

I think we all know how the UM fans feel this morning. They supported a team that played a lot of heart, played a top 10 team to the wire and got beat in the last few minutes. I sort of think it was like the UA/Oklahoma game a few years back. The Sooners had the better athletes that day. We did yesterday, by just a little. The heart shown is what I am most proud of, the will to win.

“Bama Is Back?" Well, time will tell. But being back doesn’t just mean winning when you look good, as the Tide did against Florida.

It also means winning when you don’t look so good. It means winning on the road, against an inspired opponent. It means winning when the clock is ticking down and plays must be made. It means being able to survive and move forward.
A lot of truth packed into these few sentences.......IF you're willing to let yourself believe!

In my not so educated opinion I'd say Bama is definitely back. we beat a team who had their best performance while at the same time we had one of our worst, on their Field. Bama doesn't win this game if it was played in 04, 03, or 02. I remember watching this game and the whole time i knew Bama would some how pull it off, I can't say that about years past. Bama is back, just ask Ole Miss who played better than they have played in two years and still couldn't come away with a win. Bama was never a team who blew out everyone they played but they were a team who beat the teams they were supposed to and that exactly what they did

we played a game on the road without our big play guy, and our crutch. tyrone prothro. i believe it was harder than most thought it would be. he carried the offense in most of our games. 3d down plays. all special team plays. pass plays, he was the spirit, heart and sould of our team. we needed this game, and think that is why coach shula made reference to him at the end of the game. i hope the miss game will help the guys move on.

I think in the long run there was a lot of good that will come out of this game. But I swear the sunshine pumpers are amazing. They act like we actually went into this game intending to win it on a last second FG. This was a team that we should have handled easily. I am not upset, rather just concerned.

I don't think the "sunshine pumpers" think that at all. I think that we just realize that we where confronted with an opportunity and this time we took advantage of it and converted. That in itself show that we were prepared as a team to win that game.

Come on Ramah, let a little "sunshine" in! :)

I have this year. I was spraying sunshine all over after the UF & USC games. But this was a game where we just did not look ready. Yes it was a win and yes it is nice that we won a close game but we should never have been in that position and to pretend like it was good that we were in that position is nuts. One interception or fumble recovery on that last drive and we lose. Fortunately Brodie and Darby did a great job with the 2 min offense.

I think that you have to give Ole Miss a bit of the credit for the closeness of the game. You are right about the last drive, but thats why the game is played on the field. Things happen that sometimes we are not aware of. However, we just would've gone to OT.

One interception or fumble recovery on that last drive and WE'RE ONLY TIED & LOOKING AT OT! The score was 10-10. Shesh! I liked you better as a "pumper"! ;) :)

Bottom line, Ole Miss played a game way over their expectations. I think they came into this game with some momentum from a blowout win the previous week with a top ten team in their house that they knew they could play with. There was zero intimidation factor. Getting some early success only added to their emotion and Bama didn't exactly play up to their own level of expectations.

Maybe Bama needed a close call like this to bring them back to reality that every SEC game is going to be a dogfight, especially after getting the exposure they got after the Florida win.
