The most outlandish vehicle revealed by Ford this week is the SYN US, a boxy wagon that’s smaller than the Ford Focus. It has a 45-inch liquid crystal display built into the tailgate and is WiFi ready.

The 4-passenger SYN US has the most outlandish look—sort of like a small van that’s smaller than a current day Focus. Doors on the SYN US are 6-inch-thick milled aluminum, like those in a bank vault, and there are no outside mirrors. A driver sees what’s around the vehicle via cameras.

Your very own armored car (without the armor). It even has a 45-inch display (that will talk to your wireless laptop and palm computer) on the tailgate so you can entertain the drivers behind you. Uses of this feature stagger the imagination --- anything from weather bulletins, to insults, to porn pictures, to political plugs??? Computer displays have appeared on the rears of cars in the past, but this is the first attempt at mass production.

If I had one, I would feel obligated to make a large wind-up key and attach it to the roof.

Actually, that LCD display is a great sellling point. Who here has not wanted some means of telling the person behind us to back the hell off.

Of course, I'm sure there are lawyers out there already gearing up for the personal injury suits caused be people who get into accidents because they're focusing on the display and not the road.

Man, I've wanted something like that for the nearly 30 years I've been driving. Wonder if they could install one in front so I can (electronically) scream "This is the passing lane, you moron!" Nah, then exiled jr., who's been driving about a year, would have to get in fights all over the place because he's not quite as restrained as I... ;)
