I think he [Croom] is still bitter about Jimmy Johns.
I think Croom is still bitter about not getting the job Mike Shula has.

There's also some history between the UA Athletic Department and his younger brother Kelvin.

Between those two issues, he's not anywhere near objective, and I think it comes across in his interactions with recruits.

He has a chip on his shoulder the size of Gibraltar. He's been at MSU three years, and there's no discernable improvement from the day Jackie Sherrill phoned in his last game. He doesn't recruit all that well, no matter how much playing time he has to sell and no matter how much he trashes Alabama. Orgeron is kicking his butt in Mississippi, and what he doesn't get, Alabama does.

I'll be flabbergasted if Sylvester is MSU's coach in 2008.

Didn't Freddy also play under 3 or 4 different OC's? I seem to recal that just when he'd get comfortable with one guy a new one would come in. That doesn't seem write because I believe Moore was there then, but I just recall conversations about different OC's. Heck, I may be recalling the wrong QB.

I'd have to look it up myself...but I want to say Moore, McCorvey and a Sr. under Arians?

That sounds correct. My secretary at the time was a big Aubie and really couldn't stand Kitchens. I kept saying if he'd get 2 years in a row with the same OC that we'd start seeing results. He also used to take some brutal sacks and just get back up time and again.

I think in addition to Croom's bitterness toward Alabama, that there are quite a few on his staff who share in that bitterness. Woodie McCorvey, Ellis Johnson were all fired, McCorvey by Dubose and Johnson when the Dubose staff was fired. They all obviously would prefer to be at Alabama and find it hard to deal with being the bottom feeder in the SEC West.

Freddie Kitchens is a grown man and makes his own choices. I like the way CMS does things, he doesn't even mention other programs but simply sets out what Alabama has to offer, end of conversation. He doesn't sit there and speculate (like Freddie) that a program will or will not grey shirt a recruit.

We got the right coach.

Freddie Kitchens sure seems to be getting around. Seems like i remember reading something about him being Dale Jr's spotter at Talladega last spring?
