I wonder if there was any conversation about giving Cignetti a bigger contract than Indiana had just given him to come to Alabama. Basically buying him out in January 2024.

A lot of this is because the overall product of football has declined because kids are transferring all over the place repeatedly.

A lot of this, mixed with that, is also that Indiana is full of 22 and 23 years olds. Maturity vs immaturity will win almost every time.
I agree. Everyone went left and Cignetti went right

So I guess the question is whether Indiana is one of the great teams of the playoff era or if everyone else this season is just sort of ordinary. I think the 2020 Bama team could beat them, mainly because of Saban's great record against his former assistants but it might be a close game.

Their AVERAGE age is 23.

I cannot recall when I have seen a more dominant performance over a very good team. Maybe Nebraska's destruction of Alabama in the 1972 Orange Bowl. Both undefeated and ranked #1 and #2. Nebraska destroyed a great Alabama team 38-6 and won the national championship.

I'll go with most teams are ordinary and Indiana is a more mature team.

That game was humbling…we were a great team but not as great as Nebraska and even Oklahoma that year.

Old age and experience will be youth and enthusiasm every time

Alabama didn’t even really have a close game that year. Indiana beat Iowa by 5 and needed an amazing catch to end the game vs Penn State. They have looked very impressive so far in playoffs though but us and Oregon with their top 2 running backs getting hurt are both 1 dimensional. Let’s see how they do against Miami who can run it very good.

The biggest thing I see with Indiana is they are a team that “Knows who they are” on both sides of football. This team’s winning is as much about what is going on “between their ears” as it is on the football field.

And that is the difference between 18-21 year olds and 22-24 year olds.

Funny this was brought up cause myself and my mom in law were talking about that game. Apparently Bob Devaney got some girls to hang out with Bama players the night before and they were flat....and shes been affiliated with the university since the 70's and isnt the type to stretch the truth.
