Its in a different category. You cant take what Cignetti has done and say its trumps 6 national titles. It is definitely a historic event but greater? Im not sure about that.Cignettis achievement is > CNS

His 11-2 season ended the same way our 11-4 just did. Blown out in the Top 8. Was ours above average? This is massively underselling it.
11-2 is Average?
15-0 is Good?
The job he’s done is already impressive whether or not he wins the NC
If CKD had this type of success in the 1st two years everyone would be tripping over themselves praising how great he is and what an amazing job he’s done.
I think he is more like Saban than any coach who ever coached under Saban, even Kirby. You can tell he's obsessive about it. He has obsessive personality traits just like Saban who demanded perfection. Something our staff greatly lacks. This is massively underselling it.

Yeah, but if Alabama had hired the guy from James Madison, 90% of this board would have had a come apart.I think he is more like Saban than any coach who ever coached under Saban, even Kirby. Agreed and honestly Byrne couldnt afford to hire him or he would have burnt at the stake. I get it. But my god IF, IF he would have we woild have had Saban 2.0 rather than the buyers remorse we now do.Yeah, but if Alabama had hired the guy from James Madison, 90% of this board would have had a come apart.
I get it, Byrne couldnt have known Cig was that good and would have been fried by the media and fanbase if he did. But knowing now what we know it is painfully obvious Cignetti is light years a better coach than DeBoer and its not even close. We got it wrong but its understandable why we got it wrong. No biggie. No one is blaming Byrne. We all would have hired DeBoer over Cig if in his situation. It just sucks that Saban 2.0 was there to be had and we missed him.His 1st season he lost by 23 on the road to the NC and lost by 10 on the road to the other team that played in the NCG
CKD in his 2nd season lost by 2 TD’s to a 7 loss ACC team and lost by 3 TD’s at a neutral site and by 5 TD’s at a neutral site.
Cignetti is 26-2 and has won a Major P4 Conference Championship, Been Ranked #1, Seeded #1, Is the ONLY Top Seed to not lose in the expanded CFBP and is in the NCG
CKD is 20-8 and has not won not one single thing except for Rivalry Games.
For a Two Year Period Cignetti’s Win % is .928
CKD is .714
11-2 (2024) is .846 for Cignetti
11-4 (2025) is .734 for CKD
No matter how we try to frame this or manipulate a comparison it’s pretty clear that Cignetti is > CKD in this new NIL/Portal era and has done a much better job.
That is the reasonable and objective conclusion.
And he doesn't look like a young Coach Bryant!Agreed and honestly Byrne couldnt afford to hire him or he would have burnt at the stake. I get it. But my god IF, IF he would have we woild have had Saban 2.0 rather than the buyers remorse we now do.
Of course and clearly notre dame would have won if coach just put them in.After also getting blown out by Indiana. Does this mean that Oregon shouldn’t have made the playoffs either?

I think the difference is he took what happened his first year, learned from it and vastly correctly it. Whereas DeBoer, though improved certain aspects from the first year, didnt correct a lot of stuff that carried over and vastly impacted the season to make it feel a lot like the first season. In other words, there were things he didnt correct that has shook the confidence of the fanbase in the staff. The blowouts increased even with a more talented roster, the OL got worse, the physicality of the the team didnt improve, the number of games that the team and staff showed up not looking ready stayed the same, etc.His 11-2 season ended the same way our 11-4 just did. I dont think they blowout Miami like they did us and Oregon. Miami is a very physical team that I think matches up better with with Indiana. No it’s more likely that Indiana is a legit Monster of a team.
If they beat Miami like they’ve beat us and Oregon then they probably have a claim to be in a conversation at #3 behind only 2020 Bama and 2019 LSU for best Modern teams… at worst.

Yup..This will be more like when Indiana played Penn St..I dont think they blowout Miami like they did us and Oregon. Miami is a very physical team that I think matches up better with with Indiana.
I agree.
Miami runs the ball well and has some balance.
Their Defense had played well the entire Playoffs too before the 2nd half vs OM
I do think Indiana wins but Miami probably at least puts up a fight for a while.
