I just heard that same thing on the radio here in Huntsville, AL. All High School sporting events have also been cancelled for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!
Wow, rarely do you see that. I haven't paid much attention to Ivan until the past 24 hrs. or so. I'll continue to pray it won't amount to as much as they think.
The University of Alabama has shut down today at 1pm CST and will not open up again until Saturday at 8pm. All classes cancelled. As of now, they are still planning on playing the game Saturday. However, Kickoff on the Quad has been cancelled, and they will not allow any tailgating on the Quad before the game. University of Alabama Hurricane Ivan Advisory
Montevallo, UAB, and Auburn have all cancelled classes for the rest of the week also.
True statement - all schools closed Thursday and most on Friday. Also, all HS games to be played this weekend will be played on week #10 (Oct. 28,29,20). Week 10 games will be bumped to the next week.
One of my co-workers said she saw two women get into a heated argument over the last D-batteries at a local grocery store this morning.
These people are crazy!!!
Oddly enough, with two toddlers and 800,000 toys that need batteries I've always got a stash of everything from AAA to D. If it gets bad enough, I'm gonna start pushing them on street corners. Maybe I can pay for my kids college? At least a downpayment on their first used car?
The head of the ASHAA was on WJOX this afternoon. He said this was the first time in history that the organization had to issue a full state wide cancellation.
