Normally, if I see a movie trailer and it looks like I would not enjoy the movie, I just ignore it.
Disney has managed to get people to actively (and, in this case, hilariously) hate the upcoming Snow White movie.
These comments are funny and this compilation video is entertaining.
At my age, I won't be going to see this film, but this level of dislike is impressive.
Anyway, enjoy.

LOL, just beautiful......If I was a major stockholder, I'd be burning down the studios at this point.

Well a lot of the hate has come because of 3 things: 1) the quality of the movie 2) Disney identity politics and 3) the lead actress’s comments. This has been a headache of a year for Disney in promoting this flop.
Yeah, I think this has been a case study in how not to update studio intellectual property.

Well they pretty much started with works of the Disney Renaissance (1989-2001) where there are huge movies that this current generation of parents grew up with. So it’s not like they picked to change the black Cauldron or Sword in the Stone to start all the race swapping and modern politics with.

I think people could have gotten over a Latin American woman playing a German princess but for that actress to come out and literally say “The original Snow White was weak because she needed a man to save her. We aren’t gonna to need a man in our version because we are modern” you kinda made an already hard to sell product almost impossible to turn a profit. Idk why Disney hired an actress to basically flat out call Walt Disney a sexist publicly since he was the one that wrote that iteration of Snow White.

I remember decades ago when a friend of mine couldn't wait to show me a version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves because it was XXX rated and yes, those were some very lucky dwarves. (I think it was a German film.) In any case, I found the whole thing to be rather tasteless. Having said that, I would watch that one again before I would watch this.

TBH I’ve never liked many of the Brothers Grimm and German folklore stories so I really wasn’t too upset with the casting because it never wasn’t for me. I think Disney trying to modernize the heavy hitters like Aladdin, Little Mermaid, Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast really wasn’t the best idea. It’s because people actually care about those stories and don’t want huge deviations from them. I always thought they should have gone for the 80’s films since the Bluth departure really hampered their ability to make super movies, and if you really wanted to go for a Renaissance film pick a lesser one like Hunchback, Mulan, or Tarzan in which there probably isn’t going to be huge pushback.

I think Disney is in the business of losing money over their politics. I mean just look at Star Wars and the MCU.

I'm puzzled. Why all the hate for the film? I watched the trailer, and it's pretty much stock Disney: fluffy story line, young girl singing pop soundtrack tunes, cute little fuzzy animals hopping around. At least the animals didn't talk (my biggest runaway moment for these types of movies).

If I had grandkids of the age, I might get dragged in to see it. But I'm still traumatized from the time an old gf dragged me in to see Finding Nemo. :D. (Same woman who dragged me in to see Fifty Shades of Gray....I made so many catcall comments that I thought I was going to get thrown out of the theater.)

Except three of those movies you mentioned were huge box office hits and made plenty of money. That's why one of them got a prequel released a month ago.

Worldwide box off gross:

Aladdin (2019) - $1.05 billion
The Lion King (2019) - $1.6 billion
Beauty and the Beast (2017) - $1.2 billion

The Little Mermaid (2023) is the only one that has not turned a profit so far. It's budget was in the $350 million range and only made $569 million worldwide. Maybe some of the changes didn't go over well and I could see Snow White becoming like this one as well.

Seems to me that hitting it out of the park on 3 of the 4 means it was not that bad of an idea.

I'm not a product of the outrage factory, so I'm speaking for others, but I think it was a couple of things.
1. Disney's first take on the Seven Dwarves was that it would offend "little people," so they assembled a squad of inoffensive forest dwellers.
Seven non discript forest people.jpeg
After bad audience feedback, the non-descript forest people were scrubbed from the film and replaced with apparently low-quality CGI dwarves.
2. The title character has the name due to having skin as white as snow, so casting a hispanic girl is a fairly obvious pander. (Imagine Disney did a love-action Moana with Taylor Swift in the title role).
3. Then Zegler opened her mouth and scolded future audiences that "she's not going to be saved by the prince and she's not going to be dreaming about true love. She's dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be."
Go to the 1:45 point.

And the internet dogpile was on.

Yes but it’s alot future flops because of the bad will that those movies brought. I mean SW sequels made a billion dollars but it’s unlikely another SW film will ever sniff it again.

Disney pretty much killed my love of SW and almost everything they have made have been awful.

The problem though is for the most part the fanbase just accepts weaker and weaker efforts to the point I wouldn't be shocked for another film to reach 1 Billion.

The Mandalorian is by far the best Original content and if/when that film comes out it will be huge.

The next one with Daisy will probably flop compared to other SW films.

But they need to put the whole franchise on hiatus for a bit and hit a reset in 10-15 years.

As for the new Snow White it just doesn't look like a good movie and it's not even needed like the rest of the live action adaptations.

One of my problems with the film industry is the unbelievable lack of creativity.
The 7th SW movie was really just a remake of the initial film (episode 4).
Jurassic Park was a remake with the same general plot, just bigger and scarier dinosaurs.
So many films are like that. Just a rehash of the same old ideas. It is kind of pathetic for people who sell themselves as being creative.
