I think it would be a mistake for Jackson to leave early. he's good but the competition for corner slots on NFL rosters are really extreme. He needs all the work he can get before he tries that. I think he will stay.

I think Kirkpatrick will be one corner. I think Phelon Jones or Burton Scott will take Marques Johnson's slot.

I know alot of folks are down on Scott but when I saw him in the spring and fall I felt he was progressing nicely. I believe they have more or less decided to redshirt him this year to give him a full year to learn the position.

Of course Milliner could figure in. We might be in on another corner that could figure in if he makes the jump.

whatever happens folks enjoy this year because its not often you have this many experienced upper classmen in the secondary and that will not be the case next year. its a hard system to learn. experience is impossible to rush.

Kareem's having an outstanding year and I'm surprised he hasn't gotten more credit amongst the fans and the media. His name is rarely called during the game and when it is it's because he had or almost had an interception or came up to make a play in run support. QBs barely throw in his direction and when they do there's very little room for error on the throw.
I agree. Kareem is probably the most improved player on the team this year.

I wouldn't be suprised if KJ tested the draft waters this year. I agree with that if the draft is weak as far as cb's then it would be in KJ's best interest to enter the draft. However, I would be very suprised if he returned and didn't retain his starting position.

I would think the reason for him practicing at safety would be to get the best 4 db's on the field. Of course, that's just my opinion and I have no inside information.

I think Bolden wouldn't have been in on the play if Javy hadn't pushed him in Kareem's direction. Snead surpised me though. I think he was running with the fear of God in him.
Ah, the "George Teague" Syndrome.......lol

Remember George said his motivation for running so fast to catch Thomas, was because he had blown the coverage earlier in the play and he wasn't about to go back to the sidelines to face Coach Stallings ......so he had no choice but to catch him (if someone has the quote, please share)

KJ might want to work with the track coaches if he wants to maintain his current (projected) draft evaluation through the combine.

He's been having a great year, and was already a good one, but his CB chops will be in question amongst the pros instantly if his (darn) forty time is subpar.

At LB from what I understand. He is athletic enough to rush the passer but play in space against the pass, we'll just have to see how he develops. I don't know much about his blocking skills but if he needed to he might make a fine H-Back/TE hybrid. We shall see...

I know there are several teams in the NFL who would probably love to have KJ. Especially the ones who use a lot of the pattern-match man that Saban teaches like the Steelers, Patriots, Chargers, etc, etc.

I don't know if Jackson is first round material, but I do think he'd make a solid pro in the right scheme.

It wouldn't surprise me if this the was the largest class of underclassmen to ever leave early. The players' union and owners will be negotiating a new CBA, which will definitely have an impact on rookies in terms of guaranteed money, etc.

Yeah, people - across the nation really - are worried about losing a lot of 3rd-year players this year. It will be a problem, but really the guys we stand to lose are likely gone either way (like McClain). Also, I think long-term the lower guaranteed money and other factors to limit rookie contract numbers will help keep more guys from leaving early.

Just wanted to echo the thought about BJ Scott and his future role with the team. I have noticed on several occasions that he is visible and active on the sidelines during the broadcasts. You normally see him talking to players as they come off the field.

Nothing scientific there, but his body language tells me that he is highly motivated and excited to be part of the program. It's tempting to think of him as a project that did not work, but I don't think he shares that opinion at all. He looks to me like a guy ready to contribute when his number is called.

On a side note, I wonder if anyone thinks that Kareem's performance in the Tennessee game hurt his draft status. They apparently decided he could not cover a slant route. Maybe the coverage was perfect, but I just remember feeling like he was being exploited.
