Gary Danielson - Bama in danger of losing 4 or 5 times this year.

I think he just saying there are 4-5 games that will be competitive. Losing to Michigan, Arkansas, LSU, Miss St, Ucheat and tha barn is possible looking at them as single game opportunities but there isn't ANY way we lose them all. We beat all of them except the who at least 9 out of 10.
Yeah I believe that's what he is saying. But this season is an unknown for all teams regardless. Everyone can lose this many games. I still believed Bama wins it all with an undefeated season.

Now I know who got into my beer. Gary lay off the sauce, brother.

Reread the quote and oh boy. He says he doesn't believe Michigan will beat Alabama, but says "I can't believe Michigan won't be one of those teams (that could beat them)." Holy contradictory statement, Batman. Which is it Gary, is Michigan going to beat Bama or not? Pick a side.

"I do believe Alabama is in danger (of losing) four or five times this year, and I can't believe Michigan won't be one of those teams (that could beat them)."
That's a fair statement.

We could face the danger of losing, more that 4 or 5 times. I think we will prevail each time we face that danger.

It can lead to a boring game when there is absolutely no danger of losing and we take a conservative approach with the game-plan.

why stop at 5? i mean, technically its within the realm of possibility that we could lose all 12 games. I mean, its not gonna happen, but its possible.

Danielson is a biased idiot when it comes to him discussing Alabama football....always has been...just listen to the way he calls our games next time we play and he commentates..I can't stand him..at all. Sometimes I mute the tv and turn on the radio and listen to Eli instead of listening to that moron.

You know, it is funny people like him and Colin Cowherd and others keep saying Bama lost so many players, but the same people love LSU. Guess what, with the loss of TM7, LSU has now lost the same number as we have, plus they have a new QB that has never started in the SEC .

I didn't click, how many times did he mention Tim Tebow?

Mr. Cat and I was discussing this very thing while watching the USCe/Vandy game earlier...

Thank you for saying what I was thinking.

5 this year, only if AJ is hurt early in the UM game and out for the year along with a rash of other injuries, terrible special teams play, and bad luck on top of more injuries. *knock on wood*

Next year however could be tough. Just from looking at it right now I'd say it's a 9-3 season as Bama will lose it's top 4 DL, all Srs, 3 amazing OL, probably/possibly (depending on who you ask and how the year plays out for him) lose AJ. There will be plenty of talent, but there might be issues at OL & QB along with a less than stellar DL. However I have high hopes this years DL class is a group of sleeping giants.

It's gonna be a GOOD year!

I know I slam ESPN a lot but look at the tv schedule Thursday thru Saturday.
ESPN has like 100 CFB games
FX has our friend Coach Mac
NBC are they still on the air?

CBS covering Tennis.

I take Danielson about as seriously as They take College Football

I think Danielson goes out of his way to offer a balanced opinion, and steps on his tongue a lot in doing so. If you listen to him without letting your emotions taint the content, he does know the game.

As other's have said, here is my interpretation of the meaning of GD's quote (and just think of how much we'd be praising him if he had stated it in these terms!):

"There are 7-8 games on Bama's scheduled that the Tide cannot lose. They won't even be close. Bama simply out-man's most of their competition this year. Other Top 25 teams face a real chance of losing to their opponent 8 or 9 times over the course of a season. This year, Bama only faces that chance 4 or 5 times, and one of those possible losses is Michigan. I don't think Michigan will beat Bama, but they are one of the few teams that have the talent and coaching to do so if some breaks go their way."

Without taking a stand on GD's statement, I'd like to simply offer this little opinion:

Given the right set of circumstances, every team stands a chance of losing a large number of games on their schedule.

But that's why we hire the right coaches, recruit the right players, and practice as if the next game on the schedule is the most important one of the entire season. Because, simply, it is.

lol. I believe that Danielson exaggerates possibilities for effect. We are probably more of a mystery to the nation than previous years because we don't have a large number of national recognized big time names coming back like in past years, but as many have pointed out, we have experience and depth.

Last year Mark Barron, Trent Richardson, Donte' Hightower, Dre Kilpatrick and Courtney Upshaw were more well known than this years big names(perceived). The year before it was Marcell Dareus, Mark Ingram, Julio Jones. All these players had big buzz from the previous year. For whatever reason, we don't have as much of that this year, so it could just be superficial views that we could be weaker.

I introduced a thread suggesting we might have a larger leadership vacuum and we may need more time to gel than in the past few season's. Most disagreed, but I still think there is something to it. If we do lose, it will be 1 game imo, and it won.t be to LSU :)

They can give commentary without trying to be THE STORY.

Danielson has an ego because CBS has no one else. So the Drunk & the Punk get the honor of calling SEC games. Danielson hates the SEC with one exception Tebow, maybe someone knows more about that man crush but Danielson was not the same type of QB when he played.
he burns me up when he disagrees with a play or a call & they replay it a dozen times.

The job can be done without being a jerk, I listed a few above, but you know what they say those who can do & those who can't give commentary.

I'll take up for Danielson a bit. He is a bit odd. Always has been. But I think he's offering a "devil's advocate" position with regard to Alabama. Look, I don't know if any of you realize it. But if you watch ESPN the majority of them LOVE Alabama this year. Even Robert Smith. He's picked Alabama to win the west OVER LSU. There's A LOT of love going around for us. And Danielson, right inline with his personality, is simply saying "Hey, lets not award games before they're actually played. Bama has some legitimate teams to beat this year." And he's right. Until the games are actually played we cannot say for sure if we're going to have a repeat of 2010 or not. We don't know that. We DON'T THINK it will happen but we really do not know until it doesn't happen. He's trying to be as objective as possible even if it means going to the other side of popular opinion.
