She's a sophomore and given her decision-making abilities, I doubt she was admitted early. So there's about a 99.99999% chance she's over 18.
Articles said 20. Agree there is no way she got in early. Further, I have no idea how she got into UGA. In our part of Georgia there are kids getting into Ivy league schools that can't get into UGA because it's that competitive. Then admissions tries to tell everyone they don't have quotas or limits in place for certain zip codes even though kids with 4.3+ GPAs and 33-34 ACTs are getting deferred yet somehow this young lady got a spot.

I have no idea if she got in as a freshman, but after 30ish credit hours of college it is easy to transfer most anywhere

but, not all of the smart kids who were good in high school make good decisions in college. The stress kids are under these days is different. Walk such a tight line that when they get freedom they dont know how to handle it

I'm talking about normal college kids here, not trying to make excuses for the GA football players before someone thinks thats the case

SAT Middle 50% scored 1270-1470
ACT is 29-34

GPA 50th percentile is 4.28-4.47

Those GPAs are weighted. The average GPA for unweighted is 3.9-4.0

on par with ivy league schools as crazy as that sounds
Ridiculous
It's a function of the Hope scholarships. Because they pay next to nothing, almost anybody who qualifies can afford to go to UGA. So a lot of kids who in years past, would have been priced out are now in the pool of applicants fighting for a spot.

Qualifying is another matter entirely.

Alabama could do the same thing if it had a lottery. Sadly.....

the grades and scores you need to get in if you are in the north atlanta suburbs is even higher. In order to make sure there is room for kids all across the state, there's a de-facto quota across this area. There are legitimately kids in our area getting into MIT, RIT, Harvard, Brown, Yale, Duke, Vandy, Stanford, etc but getting deferred or even denied at UGA or GA Tech. The captain of my son's team last year was in the magnet program (highly viewed STEM academic program), straight A's with a 4.4+ GPA, 4 year starter in sports (2 year captain), and I think a 32 on ACT and got deferred, then was only able to get Spring enrollment so had to do a semester at KSU.

When I was in school, we used to joke that you had to roll up your car windows on the way through Athens or they'd throw a degree. Things have certainly changed.

Yep. It all started with the Hope scholarship.

Two of my kids have gotten in to UGA. But they do have tremendous grades and scores. Neither accepted but it is very difficult to get in, especially out of state.

85 mph is a little light on the UGA scale.
Nitro was doing 107 with his girlfriend in the car, and stopped in the right lane, not the shoulder.

Nitro Tuggle who was doing 107 has transferred to Purdue. So a little punishment starts going his way and he just up and transfers, and another team is happy to take him with no punishment to serve on that team.
The only punishment is for the people of Lafayette, Indiana. They have this menace in their town now. I guarantee he learned nothing from this
