Report: Multiple Georgia football players arrested on shoplifting charges
Two freshman
Georgia football players were arrested and booked into the Athens-Clarke County Jail on Friday on shoplifting charges.
Bulldogs starting offensive guard
Dontrell Glover and running back
Bo Walker were arrested and charged with misdemeanor theft by shoplifting on Friday, according to the
Athens Banner-Herald‘s Marc Weiszer. Both have since bonded out on $1,500 bonds, per Athens-Clarke County online records.
Walker was booked at 5:30 pm ET, while Glover was booked at 5:55 pm ET. Both were released roughly two hours later shortly before 8 pm ET, per online records.
“We were informed of the charges and are currently in the process of gathering additional information,” Georgia deputy athletic director
Steven Drummond told the
Athens Banner-Herald in a statement. “This is a pending legal matter and and we will not have further comment at this time.”
Glover, who has started the last 11 games for No. 3
Georgia (12-1), is an All-SEC Freshman selection, announced earlier this week, while Walker has rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns in a reserve role this season. Walker reportedly missed last weekend’s SEC Championship game vs.
Alabama after undergoing surgery for an alleged auto accident.
As SEC Champions, the third-seeded Bulldogs don’t play again until Jan. 1 in the
Sugar Bowl, a
College Football Playoff quarterfinal, where they await the winner between No. 6
Ole Miss (11-1) and No. 11
Tulane (11-2), whose first-round Playoff game kicks off at 3:30 pm ET, Dec. 20 in Oxford.
