Yellow jackets' nests are indeed cellular, like honey bees, but you'd never know it, since they're underground just about 100% of the time. (I did once have some burrow into a wall, but they're always totally concealed.) When they're dug up - I had raccoons dig up a couple I'd poisoned with gasoline - they look like hornets' nests - smooth and oval-shaped on the outside. The coons thought the gas flavoring on the larvae and dead wasps was just great... :D

Did anyone notice the honey comb pattern on the Georgia Tech uniforms? I thought Georgia Tech was supposed to be a pretty good school but someone needs to notify their Biology department about yellow jackets. Last I checked, a yellow jacket is a wasp and not a bee and doesn't produce honey. So why the heck do they have a honey comb pattern on their helmets and jersey? Any biology guys out there?
When did Vineyard Vines start designing uniforms?

I did not say I was suprised or bewildered. I said I did not like them nor will I ever understand it... The only thing that is obvious, someone IS getting a kickback somewhere, and it isn`t the players.... Just my opinion, and I voiced it.... Maybe you will respect my opinion, or maybe you will not...
Why do people still have such a surprised or bewildered reaction when a team goes that particular route?

That line didn't go to you directly but goes to the heart of the issue. These uniform changes are nothing new, but every time some team rolls one out, we get the same, "I can't believe they did this!" or "What are they doing here?" At this point, it's redundant, especially when the reasoning behind them is well known.

Yeah the universities and the uniform makers... that's not a secret.

I did not know this...

Do Yellow Jackets have a better 1000 minute talk/unlimited text plan than Verizon?

I personally liked the new look... for years the team has been called "The Rambling Wreck". At some point if I were a fan, I'd prefer to be called "Yellow Jackets". The unis help IMO.

This is what happens when a school does not have a winning program with tradition. They need to do something to lure the players to your school. Changing the uniforms periodically during the season (Oregon) excites the players.

Many winning programs with "tradition" have used drastically altered uniforms recently.
Yep.

Georgia against Boise in 2011:

Florida numerous times:

Yeah but he said "winning" programs. Georgia is a historically mediocre program and the Gators are sliding back into the swamp of mediocrity that they inhabited for decades prior to Spurrier and Meyer.

I know you're joking, but both teams have national championships to their names... and Georgia is 10th all time in wins. I can't stand either, but I'm not letting that cloud my judgement.

But, if you want more examples: Michigan, Texas, Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Ohio State - the top 5 programs in terms of all time wins - have all used alternate or radically changed uniform styles recently.

I seem to be the exception, but the uniforms worn on the field don't really catch my interest. Whether they are wearing the same ol' "traditional" uniform or something new, they've still got to play the same game they always have.

But no discussion on uniforms should leave out the "tear-away" jerseys. As long as they don't start experimenting with "tear-away" pants, I'm ok with whatever.

And I still think the decision to start calling some style uniforms (designed to be worn in a GAME) combat uniforms is a little silly.
