If you look at UGA's game against Alabama, it wasn't our play-by-play defense, but giving up some big plays, that was the main issue.
Case in point:
Georgia had 227 yards on the ground and 130 through the air.
131 of those rushing yards came on 6 plays and 60 of the passing yards came on 2 more.
That means that 220 of UGA's 357 yards came on 6 plays; the remaining 137 yards came on 46 plays - a 2.98 ypp average.
Georgia had 11 plays of over 10 yards; our biggest issue is that 7 of those went for over 20. Bowens had two big run plays that accounted for 72 of his 119 yards.
This also meant that on most occasions, the offense wasn't getting enough yards to convert in 3 downs.
The defense's main issue appears to be making tackles at the second level.
This was the opposite of how Alabama's offense attacked, which had more plays than Georgia go over 10 yards (16 to 11) but fewer that went over 20 (4 for Alabama vs 7 for Georgia).
