I'm not insinuating that warming has not occurred. I'm asking you to be more specific about the problem that you see existing today.
The more significant results are yet to come but specifically, off the top of my head, rising sea levels, acidification of the oceans, warming of the oceans, shifting of growing zones, possibly more severe weather patterns, rapid melting of glaciers. Just to name a few.

If there's such convincing evidence then why is there a need to doctor evidence? It's nothing more than a scam. There's no doubt there's global warming but when evidence has to be doctored then it lets me know we've far from "proven" we are having that much of an impact.

Does anyone else of my elderly vintage recall being hearing back in the mid 70s that the "science was settled" & that we were facing a coming ice age? We had to read some stuff about this in HS.
I don't recall the phrase "the science is settled," but there is no doubt that we were told the temperature was FALLING. There was an infamous "Time" magazine cover that I recall seeing. Plus, in 1978-79, I lived in Rantoul, Illinois. That January we had something (it has a Wiki page) called "The Blizzard of 79." And that one event was cited as proof we were cooling. In fact, science was my favorite subject, and we sat in class and were told that the polar ice caps were going to be in Lake Michigan by the year 2000. We were told to know this is true because it was, you know, science.

Then in 1988, we had a drought. All of a sudden global warming and the ozone hole were all the rage. They went with the latter one first - which everyone dismissed after Mount Pinatubo erupted in 1991. I'm personally convinced that had Al Gore not been VP of the USA (had Bush beat Clinton), this would not even be on the radar screen right now. I lived in Arkansas in the mid-1990s. We had two scorcher summers, 1993 and 1996 - days you would just not want to go outside. But in 1994, we had a very cool summer (compared to those other years), and 1995 was bearable.

What gets me (as I've said before) is this:

if it's hot outside, it's global warming.
it it's cold outside, it's global warming.
if the weather is the same, it's global warming.

Now I'm not sitting here saying "there has been no warming the last century." But as others have said - why does so much of it have to be doctored and redone? Why was there even the whiff of an email scandal? (They investigated themselves, nothing to see there).

These things would not be necessary if the science was as cut and dried as they say.

97%? Really, I would have guessed higher.

Global warming alarmists and their allies in the liberal media have been caught doctoring the results of a widely cited paper asserting there is a 97-percent scientific consensus regarding human-caused global warming. After taking a closer look at the paper, investigative journalists report the authors’ claims of a 97-pecent consensus relied on the authors misclassifying the papers of some of the world’s most prominent global warming skeptics. At the same time, the authors deliberately presented a meaningless survey question so they could twist the responses to fit their own preconceived global warming alarmism.
Gotta love the genius lib scientist! You can't make this stuff up! Oh wait, they just did!!

I had a long, detailed response, the other night, and the computer ate it. Which might be best, as I really don't want to argue with my crimson brothers.

So, in a nutshell, there is one thing constant in climate:

Change.

It occurs, all the time, all by itself. As does the reversal of the earth's magnetic poles. That is just plain fact.

Any theory that explains everything is not a theory; it is just a load of crap.

There is nothing "settled", or what is the other bogus argument..........something about universal acceptance (or whatever it is) is also crap. The scientific community does not work that way, despite what the High Priests of Climatology contend.

None of the members of the First Church of Climatology can tell us what the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is. Do the math, and you will realize it is all just hot air. (Yes, a really bad pun.)

What it all comes down to is this:

The job of any researcher is to get more research money. That is how the game is played. You write some report, on some research that you may or may not have done (and quite possibly massaged the data...............yes, it does happen), and use phrases like "further research is needed to investigate whether there is any commercial potential" or "further research is needed to investigate the long-term viability" in order to get that next research grant.

You can get mad, if you want to, and that is your right. You can even hate me, as that is your right. Don't call me a liar, because I doubt you have the same background that I have. I can stand on my statements, and sleep at night.

"You don't sleep at night. Who are you fooling?"

Uh..........insomnia does not count. You know what I mean. I do sleep. Sometimes.

Ok, just because I sleep in the days must mean I am a closet vampire. Has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

While you are Googling the concentration of CO2, see if you can dig up the speech AlGor made, during his first unsuccessful run for President. He was in NC, and gave this impassioned speech on how he spent all his life raising tobacco, from seedlings up to...........blah, blah..........speaking in his best "Country Preacher" persona, and declaring that "tobacco was here, and was here to stay and he would see to that", etc.

Yeah, the man will say anything to further his ambition. And you want to believe him on climate change? Are you that gullible?

All for now.................

(Yes, the long version of my post was more pointed! Aren't you glad it was eaten?!")

There's no doubt there's global warming.................(snip)
Actually, the latest data shows it is not as hot as was believed to be. That comes from NASA, if I am correct.

Since I brought that subject up..............man, another can of worms I just remembered...........

Way back when, NASA claimed that any "global warming" was caused by solar activity. Who knows. Things heat up and cool down, all by itself, long before we had SUVs, A/Cs, and propane and propane accessories.

And the High Priests of Climatology had a cow. (One is still having a cow. You know, the one who knows less about science than I forget every morning, when I wake up.)

Then their funding started being cut. Whoops............better come up with a way to get more funding............ah, this should do it:

Does anyone remember..........I dunno................2-3 years ago...........NASA announced its new mission (along with some PC crap to help spread science to Muslim countries, or some other such rubbish) that they were going to turn all their satellites to look for, and monitor, global warming, and its effects.

Whether they believed it or not, they needed funding. Re-read my previous post. Yes, that is part of the game.

(You may notice I live in Texas.................used to live in Houston...............Mrs. Cuda is from Houston..............not saying I work, or worked, at some gubbament space agency, but, at a minimum, let's just say I know folks who do or did. Draw your own conclusion.)

While you are Googling the CO2 concentration, Google "closed system" or "closed-loop system". And terms like "feedback loop", "natural frequency", "transient response", "overdamped/underdamped" and "settling time". Think of the earth (and its climate) as a.................yes, you guessed it! Think in terms of thousands................millions of years, when it comes to settling time and natural frequency. Think how long the earth has been around.

10.......20......40 years of data..........even if not fudged.........insignificant. Really, it is!

Think I am going to crank up the A/C some more. (Actually, I am going do the opposite. Mrs. Cuda is the one who likes the house to feel like a meat locker, not me.)

(Also going to run the dishwasher, @ 4 AM, because I know something about power plants, as well. Planned on 3 AM, but I got sidetracked..........)

In case you are not tired of my rants.............hope this is not too far o/t, but it typifies how the "research" game is played.

A buddy really, really works in research. He ought to: he has Ph. D., unlike some poor dumb schlub (like me) who only has a Master's or lowly Bachelor's. (Oh, the horror!) My buddy is always changing jobs, moving from state to state, industry to industry, job to job. Anyway, he had one, up in Montana, that he kept for a shorter period than usual. So, one day.............."Ah got's to know!"

"Well, basically, my wife was convinced that I was either going to shot the boss, or jump out the window, so she made me find a new job."
"That bad, eh? What was wrong with it?"
"The guy I worked for was crazy. He had a patent on something that did not work. And would not work, as it violated the Second Law of Thermodynamics. But, you could not tell him that, or he would go nuts and sack you."
"How did he stay in business?"
"He wasn't 'in business', in the truest sense. He was funded by Congress. Every year or so, he would finagle some more research funds, and that would keep the place afloat. Anytime he hired a new head of research, that figured out it wouldn't work, and squawked, he would sack them, and find someone new to run things."
"Like you, right?"
"Yes."
"Didn't anyone catch on to the fact he was 'researching' it forever, and never made anything that worked?"
"He was the largest employer around, something like 400 employees. Would you want to be the guy running for re-election that would have to tell all those voters that you were the reason they were out of work, and the town's economy was wrecked?"

I know............isolated event. If you think it is that uncommon.........surprise!

So, "global warming"..................Milton Friedman could say it is so, and I would still know it is crap.

I guess you are referring to the groups that the Cincinnati IRS was investigating.:p
Speaking of the IRS. My neighbor is trying to start a local non profit group for those impacted by Down syndrome. They've had their application submitted since December 2012 and still cannot get it processed. They continue to call and keep getting the run around. I told her the other day to be sure the name isn't causing an issue. LOL!
