I personally believe Nick will do what is needed to keep Pete. That includes telling Tosh “It’s time to go.” Pete is the next Kirby.
I wanted to ask the question “Could Golding be a better DC than Tosh?” but I believe most folks on here would say Tosh is a better recruiter than coordinator. I don’t think Tosh was ready to take the reins this year but Saban had to do what he needed to do to keep him around

Do you guys read this as final as it relates to OU? "Off for now" seems to leave a crack in the door...maybe until after the playoffs. Grinch has always been our 2nd choice but Golding has the edge primarily because of his Texas recruiting experience. As the article says, we don't need a top 10-20 D. We just need one that is respectable.
I would think if OU wants him bad enough that they have the resources to lure him away. Probably a question of how much they think he’s really worth. He’s unproven as a DC and $1.3-1.5 million is a lot of bank to throw at a guy in that spot.

Tosh is a great recruiter but I am not sold on his DC ability.....I think he was given the chance to keep him on staff because of his recruiting abilities....
I am not yet, either, but I think that Saban is. Yes - great recruiter. Just not sure that Saban would put the entire team in jeopardy by putting him in that role unless he thought that he could grow into the job.

I really never worry about the defense at Alabama. Some of the DCs are better than others, and Pruitt may be the best that I have seen in decades, but as long as Saban is at Alabama, your defense will be pretty stout.

This was Tosh first year at DC. Also with a young backfield and all I believe he did a decent job. I would give him another year before making any judgment on his abilities.

Don't get me wrong - not criticizing him. Just not sure how good he is or will be at this point.

Seems like a smart decision on Golding's part especially long-term. He is a young guy and can only benefit from hanging around for a while.

His struggle supposedly is calling the backside of the D and it showed @ times this year. He grew as the season went on. Struggled vs. Chaney in the first half but made solid adjustments @ halftime.

I hope both stay on @ Bama for a few years.

Neal McCreedy now saying Golding is going to Ole Miss for a 3 year, $4.5 million deal.
JMO, but that experiment was not working anyway. Your ILB group has seen their performance drop off this year.

Sounds like yall look at Defense like cars...
Would Ok prefer a Chevette, or in a Caddie?
(BTW: One choice is better than the other)
