For a lot of reasons, I’m glad Gottfried isn’t our coach anymore. I don’t wish him ill….I just don’t want him in Tuscaloosa.

But dang, man, you’ve been accused of a lot of stuff from a lot of different places, thousands of miles apart, and I’m not aware that you’ve prevailed in a single legal challenge.

Ran into a guy near Charlotte a few years ago who told me he had known Gottfried since they were both kids. Suffice to say he was not a fan.

Out of wedlock dalliances aside, any accusations of NCAA wrongdoings against him in Tuscaloosa never approached what he triggered at his other stops. I wonder why.

I met Marc right after he graduated from Bama. I got to know him and Elizabeth a little before he went to UCLA. When he took the Bama job, we were reacquainted again. The man he has become since that point is not the man I knew. It’s sad.
