That's awesome to hear. Not only does he have tremendous work ethic on the field, it carries over into the classroom as well. Unfortunately this stuff doesn't make the newspaper rounds as much as a story of a ticked journalist that has some agenda against Alabama or Coach Saban.

Great Article. It is nice that they don't have to pay for school, thus they can take summer classes, interim classes, and have housing and food and much more for playing football for the University. Not to say, they don't easily pay for their own way through time and the amount of money the football team brings to the University. Personally I always had to work in the summer. It's too expensive to go to school year round if you are an out of state student at the University.

YOU DONT THINK THESE GUYS ARE WORKING DURING THE SUMMER?

Ill bet some of the things these guys are doing in the summer are a lot harder than bagging groceries at the Piggly Wiggly.

Quit yelling. I didn't intend for it to come across that way. Football players give their lives to the University of Alabama for 4 or 5 years, so they get even less than probably what they observe. I got sidetracked in saying that going to school in the summer wasn't really an option for me, regardless, therefore graduating in 3 years wasn't really possible. That was my point.

Maybe we shouldn't be so touchy! If I ever get insulted, it will be after someone calls my name and points his/her finger. A little thinking will cause us to be a little slower to snap back!

Congrats to them!

Graduating in 3 years a heck of a feat, even going year round. It's a difficult to take and handle a full semester's worth in the summer terms. Plus it's easy to get burned out doing that.

Now THAT is what I call taking advantage of opportunity! Why can't more young men and women who are given scholarships (academic, athletic or otherwise) maximize that opportunity like Mr. Caldwell? It's always so disappointing to see kids throw away opportunities to excell. What a refreshing thing, learning about Caldwell's accomplishments.

He is the first Tide football player to graduate within three years of entering school at the University.

So are they saying he graduated in 6 semesters?

Stories like this emphasize the character some of these guys have. Unfortunately, a story like this is buried on pg 6 while any bad news is placed on the front page. GREAT JOB!!!! :BigA:
