I saw the premiere of Gravity last night, and it was fantastic. The screenshots were remarkable and really beautiful. The acting was fantastic. I am a big fan of George Clooney and I was very impressed with his performance. I have not been a fan of Sandra Bullock in the past, but her performance was spot on. She did a great job of evolving her character throughout the movie. Her character starts the movie as a very timid and fearful woman, but with every obstacle she overcomes she becomes stronger and more bold.

So, the movie deals with a great topic and one we can all relate to: that is the fear of the unknown. Outer Space is the ultimate unknown as it is a sea of darkness and void. The movie then asks what would happen if you placed someone who has never had to struggle for existence into a situation where she will have to overcome tremendous obstacles in order to survive. The outcome is pure gold. I enjoyed this movie tremendously and wanted to share this with you, I recommend the movie highly. Roll Tide!

Mrs. VJ and I saw it last night as well. It was outstanding. Sandra Bullock turned in the performance of a lifetime.

I'm not big on movies especially movies with this subject matter, but it looks interesting. I did go see Prisoners the first weekend it came out, and I really enjoyed it.

Does it all take place in outer space?

Not to be a spoilsport but:
"Gravity," Alfonso Cuarón's 3-D space epic starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, soared to the top of the North American box office on its opening weekend, earning $55.8 million — the biggest October opening of all time, according to the Hollywood Reporter — and raves from critics.

But according to world-renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, the film is littered with inaccuracies in its depiction of space.

Why Bullock, a medical Doctor, is servicing the Hubble Space Telescope.
How Hubble (350mi up) ISS (230mi up) & a Chinese Space Station are all in sight lines of one another.
Why Bullock's hair, in otherwise convincing zero-G scenes, did not float freely on her head.
Satellite communications were disrupted at 230 mi up, but communications satellites orbit 100x higher.
Astronaut Clooney informs medical doctor Bullock what happens medically during oxygen deprivation.
I selectively picked some of his beefs above. Here are some others:

The movie seemed to be "Castaway" but set in space. Some of the science is off target but the scenes are really good. The view of Earth is amazing. Not a bad movie but I disagree about Clooney in this. He tries to pull off the hot shot, suave, maverick fighter pilot/astronaut type but comes off goofy. Granted, I am no fan of Clooney....
