i always have a stout (usually guinness) or three as a recovery drink as soon as i finish a long race. often my wife hands it to me as i am approaching the finish line so that i do not miss any recovery time ;)

Chocolate milk has also been shown to be a good post-run replenish.

Though I have found that a couple of good craft ales are the cure for whatever ails me. Anytime.

i use that too. usually drink it after the first beer. the fat/carb/protein mix of chocolate milk is almost the same as those overpriced, nasty "recovery" formula drinks that are marketed to athletes. chocolate milk also tastes a helluva lot better.

In a rare piece of good news for those who like a pint, Spanish researchers say beer can help someone who is dehydrated retain liquid better than water
Always seemed to have the opposite effect on me:conf2:
My preference is a Gin & Squirt with a stalk of mint

Well, well, well.........look who has come out of hiding. I thought that Bohdi found out where you lived and paid you a visit to finally have the wisdom of taxing the rich debate on your front lawn. Ofcourse since Bohdi is the one who is right here he is the one who won the debate in the yard also. ;)

Might I suggest a local favorite... Good People Brewing out of Birmingham. If you ever find yourself in a place that is serving their Sand Mountain Snakehandler Double IPA... get it, enjoy it, and deal with the consequences afterwards (It will knock you on your you know what).
I thought Snake Handler was the king until I had a Hopsickle. Ever had a Fatso?

Just have a
my buddy is a big homebrewer and he has a vat of milk stout "curdling" in his brew room. last week he sent me home with growlers of IPA, Pale Ale, Octoberfest, American Red, and bock (2). All very tasty. He is brewing 15-30 gallons on a weekend and is filling growlers for a very modest donation to his charity of choice (which happens to be a hop farm ;) ). Its gonna be a good beer summer and fall for me. His goal is to get to the point where he is getting out a belgian a month along with his other varieties. He said the first belgian should be ready late summer/early fall. I'm psyched :)

Lucky. I've got a buddy that homebrews, but not on that level. I've wanted to pick it up but my old lady won't let me.
