I've been thinking about great plays Bama players have had against the barn and great full games.

If I had to pick one great individual performance in that game it would be the 1968 game by linebacker Mike Hall.
Seemed like he made every tackle that day, even came in on O and caught a TD pass.

There have been several good pairs of MLBs in Bama history, got a great pair now, but Mike Hall and Bob Childs are a hard pair to beat!

I'd have to say Johnny Musso in 1971 comes to mind first for me. He had an injury called "turf toe", which was very painful from what I undersand, and still scored a couple of touchdowns and ran for over 100 yards...leading the Tide to a 31-7 victory -- the first win over the aubies since 1968.

Great topic!!

My goodness, where do you start?

There's been so many that stand out.

Mine will seem weird but I might pick a forgotten little running back named Linnie Patrick who maybe played his best game at Bama when Bryant beat Auburn and eclipsed Stagg's record.

Linnie was possibly the most highly recruited running back we've ever had, and he struggled to live up to expectations.

But in that game he ran as hard as anyone I've ever seen in a Bama uniform. Some of them were simply unbelievable. For some reason that performance really sticks out in my mind.

Musso in 1971 when Bama and AU were both undefeated and he led us to a 31-7 victory was a great one too.

But then there was Santonio Beard when we beat Auburn at Auburn. He put up incredible numbers. Pretty much took over the game.

Almost impossible to answer.

I just hope that if this same question is posted a week from now that I have no choice but to say...."Without question...John Parker Wilson..or maybe Coffee, no, Cody....

Could name a few that I want forget, D. Palmer had a 10yd or so run for a big score his soph.(91) year, Kevin (Mad Dog) Turner made some of the most ugliest blocks and runs that I can remember(everytime he took the field). Antonio Langham pick 6 off Stan W. to break open the game in "92". Just remembering the Gene Days! It just seems like today some how to me.

I watched Linnie all through High School and he had many great runs, but the two he made against Auburn were the best I have seen at any level.

Here's a great vid! Linnie's runs are at the end when Bama seals the deal!

Linnie Patrick gets my vote.
Lennie Patrick - 315 - I'll agree! They should make a movie about those two runs! It could be the start of a whole new super-hero character - BAMA MAN!

He never won the Heisman 4 years in a row like he predicted... but he sure earned his scholarship that night!

I went years with Linnie's two big runs in the 315 game and Mike Shula's 1985 Labor Day game at Athens during the last minute and nine seconds being the two best BAMA football perfomances of all time. In the last couple of games Rashad Johnson with his three interceptions and Javier Areneas' kicking game performance have joined that elite crew!

It just doesn't get any better than this game. There is no way to describe it without the use of copious cliches.

After watching the video I'll have to admit that Jesse Bendross gave a more impressive, game changing performance that Lennie did. I guess I have been deluded about Lennie's performance in that game due to the fact he finally lived up to the hype. Nevertheless, I overlooked Jesse's performance which I regret.

We all should remember how the other 10 on the field make it possible for the 11th one to shine, even if it seems they are doing it on their own!

By the way I was at the game when Stabler made that great run in impossible conditions. I still don't think I'm completely dry :) That was one of the nastiest days I've ever seen.

Stabler's run in the mud was fantastic, but I have to go with Linnie Patrick. I don't think I have ever seen better runs by a back in any game. I think 6 auburn defenders touched or had a legitimate shot at him on his first big run and it took the 7th to finally bring him down.

In addition to Stabler & Patrick, I'd add Mike Shula & Al Bell from 1985.

The fourth quarter of the 1985 game was the most exciting I can remember in my 50 years of watching college football.
