I'm going on what friends, coaches, have observed in the skels. They have been very, very impressed with his arm strength, comparing it to Brodie's. We're entering an interesting period. I'm glad I'm above dirt to see it. Several years ago, when Bama FB was about at the bottom of the shaft, Billy Neighbors remarked to me that he and I might not be around long enough to see us come back (we're about a month apart in age). Well, I think we just might get to see it...! :D
I'm in the same age-group.....probably a bit ahead......and if I have my way, I ain't going anywhere until I see Bama come back....all the way!:biggrin2:

Two things...first McElroy will without question be the backup this year, but as Earle said, once this year is over and Fanuzzi has been redshirted, all bets are off. Saban will play whomever gives us the best chance to win.

Second, Earle...you're not that old that "death" is something you should be thinking about!

In 2003, around Christmas, I suffered a stroke bad enough that I thought I wouldn't be above ground to see our comeback but am now determined to enjoy the process of the comeback AND the ride on top for a while. But I do know the feeling of counting not in decades but in years..

Good luck to all of you!!!!!!!!Roll Tide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm really happy to hear the word "competition" being thrown around again. Competition is a great thing. Not only that, but, just knowing that CNS is gonna give the best player a shot to play will make everyone go that much harder trying to win/keep their starting spot. I think that was really lost during the MS era.

I think after this recruiting season we will bo on the way to getting back on top. It will be a couple of years before we get there but we're on our way.

I got lost when you said "throwing to the man". I thought you meant "The Man" as in "The Man is keeping me down".
When a QB is throwing to a man, he's tracking him all the way and has mental info as to where he's going to be when the ball arrives. In "spot" throwing, which JPW is doing very well with, the QB looks "off" the receiver and comes back to a spot where the receiver is going to be. It's been working well. The others are tending to throw behind, mainly because of the strong unconscious urge to pick up the moving target visually, rather than trust their coaching and trust the receiver to be there. Clear as mud? :D

I do this all the time in football...at least with my NCAA '08 dynasty, with my offense averaging 900+ yards a game.

You obviously have it down. Aside from cross-country, how fleet afoot are you? Track guys do sometimes convert into WRs, you know... :D

I'm in a class with one of the receivors and he told me that it's JPW and McElroy all the way in 7 on 7's. He said Fanuzzi gets a couple of reps but he isn't near ready to play and needs to get bigger and stronger.

And it is refreshing to see talent combined with his character on a BAMA team. Always makes me proud we get these guys.

Great to see talent go to a good kid and not a cocky punk! (Lienert, Quinn, etc. {lol at the draft}) Competition for spots is what drives these kids to greatness! I am so stoked about how this seasons depth chart will turn out!:BigA:

Compared to sprinters, I'm "slow". I have run 50 seconds for 400 meters, but for a distance runner, that's pretty solid. As a barometer, the best 400 meter sprinters in NCAA are running at 45 seconds or faster. I'd probably be the receiver that would run those long drag routes or some crazy route to get the DB tired; no way he has as much endurance as I do.

Just a question, but how is Leinart a "cocky punk"? He was a very good QB for a very good team. Any other rival of Alabama could've called Brodie the same thing had Alabama been as sucessful as USC in recent years.

Sorry. Didn't mean to come across as stupid. I figured everyone could read my sarcasm. I raeally do know what throwing to a man is. Honest! :biggrin2:

Thanks, though, for the clarification anyway. It sounds like things are going well with JPW!

Saw several of former last year...that ended up as high/low/in front of/behind...floaters. But great numbers...for UA...regardless. In any case, transition from staring down receivers is certainly an improvement, as will be advertised improved mobility/footwork. Should be a good year.
