This is a great fit for Greg and the new network. Let's just sit back now and see how far and fast he moves up in his new broadcast career.

Interesting words from GMAC. It seems he is talking to the fans (Bama fans) and prepping them that he's not going to be a homer and be biased towards Alabama.
I wouldn't make anything of it. It just means he we'll be another Herbstreit. Anything less would be unworthy of GMac. The man is a PROFESSIONAL, and will not show bias towards his team (unlike a certain speech-challenged grandpa). He loves Bama and would do anything to support them, of that I am sure,

Was it not GMac who picked the number 12 because his father told him, "If you accept this scholarship, you have to wear number 12. All of the great Bama quarterbacks wore that number." And then he won us a national championship, grabbing the MVP award of the SECCG on the way.

We knew it. As soon as that thread with his commentary on the sports show was posted, we all knew the SEC network would want him. Congrats to Greg! He will do a great job. Can't wait to watch him.

Great move for GMac, his fame and career at ESPN will likely far surpass anything he could have accomplished in the NFL. I can envision years from now he and Tebow doing a game and them flashing back to that 2009 slug fest between the Gators and Bama. (they can skip the crying part, that was way overblown).

G-Mack didn't have the arm to be an NFL QB but he was so smart it gave him a chance. He'll be better off as an ESPN analyst, which I expect him to be very soon. If not, he'll probably make a billion dollars in business. Kids a winner, and it will pay off for him. I appreciate his efforts when he was at UA. His "dance down the sideline" first down, against Florida, in the SEC title game, was one of the greatest efforts I've ever seen.
I wish him the best of luck. He won't need it.
sip
He "ain't nothing but a WINNER!"

Your mentioning "The dance down the sidelines" brought back great memories of GMac. That was a great and smart run for a 1st down. He's got some wrinkles up in that head that haven't been used yet.

I watched him on TV when his high school won the Texas State 5A Championship. He was a Winner then, and at Alabama, and will be on the SEC Network and beyond. That boy's got brains.

Some people just don't know when to quit. Those hits add up and some wait until it's toooooooooo late and are injured and adversely affected for life. Gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. Gotta know when to walk away! Sounds like another Texas boy, Kenny Rogers.

I think he has a very BRIGHT future. Hope he gives Bama a little love periodically even though I'm sure he will be professionally impartial. That's something I could NEVER be. I'm Bama to and through the bone! Now, if ESPN wants an announcer who will not be impartial at Bama vs the Barn or Bama vs LSU or Bama vs anybody, I'm da Man!

"Coach!!! Coach!!!!!!! Coach!!!!!!!!! Put me in! Coach! Put me in or I'm going to pull a Tommy Lewis! Coach, where were you in 1954?"

Timing is important, and his timing could not have been better. Now I have to see if the SEC network will be available here.

I remember the 09 BCS, the first drive he was sacked, and GMac staring down Barrett Jones all the way back and inside the huddle. I think he got his point across. He was a competitor.
Yeah, but he still had sense enough to not get in Barrett's face for it either; otherwise he probably would have gotten the same treatment that AJ got...

good for GMac. I will have to rely on tidefans to hear how great he is doing since about 18 people will be the only people who actually have the SEC network.

BJ's far too classy for any of GMac's shenanigans
