I know what you're "sayin'"......but hold up.
Let's clarify.
Technically, I
am a Bama fan.
I just happen to be a Gator fan first..........who is also a Bama fan.
The two
can co-exist ya know.....
I dunno - it's kinda like the two hurricanes moving into the gulf right now. It doesn't seem like anything good can come of that...
Yes...you can be a fan of multiple teams with the heart tied to one. I am a Bama grad and Bama fan. Lived in Florida about 33 years with both children attending U F, one for 8 years (undergrad and MD) the other 6 years (undergrad and Masters). Wife and I left many friends there. We have fond memories tailgating with the kids and friends under the oak trees in Gainesville. I would show up early with the Beer and BBQ and they would......show up. Daughter would bring her Sorority Sisters, decked out in sun dresses. My they always won at Flipcup and Beer Pong. The Med School students could give them a run for their money. Us adults...no way. One gameday we set up a turkey frier in the middle for campus with, of course, adult beverages.
Not much different from when I was in Tuscaloosa in the early to mid 70's. Well, we had to hide the adult beverages back then. I remember my later to be wife in her sun dress helping sneak in a flask for games. I digress.
As I age I find that I do not "hate" teams, rather learn to have a dislike and loose all respect for coaches and/or players on other teams based on their actions. That seems to drive my feelings for opponents. If I don't respect someone, I can't like them, and enjoy seeing them get their butts kicked. Georgia comes to mind. Tennessee was right up there when Krispy Kreme was driving the boat. Otherwise I am happy with a good win and no injuries.
